I'm not in Indianapolis (still!), but now that Gen Con's over I guess it really doesn't matter as much. (Though there will be at least a couple of "dead dog parties" that I WISH I could be attending.)
As much as I was enjoying the quick snippets from the show (in particular, Eric's rapid-fire photo blog), I REALLY can't wait to read some more in-depth posts. Y'know, the best events, the best new products, the best overheard conversations ... all the GOOD stuff!
I probably should have mentioned it sooner, but to tide me over I've been listening to the This Just In ... From Gen Con podcasts all weekend. They've been fun and entertaining, but not as broadly informative as I'd hoped. At only 15 minutes long, each one very quickly covered what the hosts had seen since the the previous and then featured a quick interview with some gaming industry guest. Of course, it being Gen Con, everyone go loopier and loopier, and their voices got scratchier and scratchier, as the weekend wore on. I suppose I'm a tough audience, though, because just hearing Ken Hite or Robin Laws be entertaining for a couple of minutes isn't a big thrill ... since if I'd BEEN there, I'd probably have had conversations with them that lasted longer. So I'm betting that the shows were QUITE fun and informative for MOST of the audience. If you want to check them out, I'm sure the episodes will remain archived and available for some time to come.
Now, before I close my not-at-Gen-Con coverage, I want to put up one last photo sent to me by Kevin Melka. This one is Steven Schend ... Alliterate, FR expert, and one of the most dedicated comics goobs it's ever been my pleasure to debate X-Men history with.

That's it! Show's over! I'll get back to my more broadly-focused postings tomorrow (or maybe even later on tonight, if I get motivated).
Thanks for indulging my whining. |
