Chapter one! | Chapter two! | chapter three! | chapter four!

Uruha smiled softly as he saw two little kids playing in the snow, a little girl and a little boy. The girl was wearing a flower dress, a coat that was at least two sizes too big, a scarf and a hat. Her hands were bared because her mittens were dangling off of the little strings that were attached to her coat.

She was talking to her little friend, the boy with red pants and a coat that was as big as the girl’s. They were rolling the snow into big snowballs and were stacking them high up together. Uruha guessed they were probably trying to make a snowman…or something similar. They weren’t succeeding very well, but then again, they looked like they couldn’t be older than four or five.

It was cute anyway.

Uruha saw the little kids’ mothers sitting on the little bench next to the playground. They chatted happily while still keeping their eyes on the little ones. The mothers looked like they were good friends. Uruha was sure the kids would turn out to be good friends too then! That’s how childhood friends are made, right?

At that moment another mother walked down the street to the little playground. Her sons looked about seven and four. Both of them held on to their mother tightly, squeezing her hand, but as soon as they saw the monkey bars and swings in the little playground, they let go of their mom and started running.

“Be careful!” the mother yelled as she went after them in a strolling pace.

The smallest one slipped when they got to the grass and fell on his little face. Uruha was already getting up, his heart beating a little faster, when the little one’s brother got to him and quickly pulled him back up. The kid looked a bit shaken up but after a big hug from his brother he smiled again. They now carefully walked hand in hand to the monkey bars.

Uruha’s smile grew. He had always wanted to know what it’s like to have a brother or a sister. He was sure that would have been so awesome! There would be extra birthday parties, extra toys to share, your brother is someone you can always talk to, someone that’ll protect you and… you’re never be alone.

Uruha’s smile grew a little sadder. But he hadn’t had a brother or a sister. And maybe that had been for the best too… You don’t only share happiness but also all the sad things.

“What are you looking at?” Aoi’s voice was close to Uruha’s ear and Aoi quickly wrapped his arms around Uruha from behind.

“Oh you scared me!” Uruha’s breath hitched as he suddenly heard and felt Aoi so close to him.

“Sorry.” Aoi kissed the side of Uruha’s neck and shifted a little further on his knees to Uruha’s back. Uruha turned on the little bench they were now both sitting at and hugged Aoi back.

“What took you so long?” Uruha asked, squeezing Aoi tighter.

“I went to pick up breakfast!” Aoi said, presenting the two brown bags from the nearby diner.

“We could have eaten at home too...” Uruha said, his eyes full of suspicion. Aoi was up to something today, he could just feel it.

“But today is our big date day! We can’t do anything normal today.” Aoi smiled widely, giving Uruha one of the bags. “Do you want to eat here or find some other place?”

“No,” Uruha said happily, “Here is just fine!”

Aoi looked around them. When he had told Uruha to wait for him in the little park, he hadn’t thought Uruha would pick out one of the benches near the playground to wait for him…, but he wasn’t complaining. This place was full of moms and kids, that meant no drugs dealers and muggers.

Uruha opened his bag and smiled down at all the content. “Donuts?”

“Yes, twenty! So start eating quickly, we’re not leaving ‘til they’re all gone!” Aoi chuckled, looking at the donuts in his own bag and thinking about which one he wanted first.

“And where are we going again…?” Uruha asked softly, starting to eat his first donut.

“That’s still a secret.” Aoi grinned widely.

“Oh come on! We’re leaving soon, I mean, what’s only a few more hours, right?” Uruha pouted adorably.

“Yeah, you’re right!” Aoi nodded seriously. “What’s only a few more hours of waiting, huh?” he leaned forward and kissed the jelly off of Uruha’s lips.

“Fine, next time I plan something for you I’m gonna make you feel miserable by not telling you what it is, too!” Uruha smiled, digging his finger in the donut and then smearing all the jelly on Aoi’s cheek.

“If you don’t want to walk around with someone with jelly on their face I suggest you help me with that.” Aoi said, trying not to smile too brightly.

“Fine.” Uruha grinned, leaning forward and licking the jelly off of Aoi’s cheek. “Better?” he asked in a little coy voice.

“Much.” Aoi chuckled.

Cheeky bastard.

Fifteen minutes later they had eaten ten of the donuts, Aoi six and Uruha four. And only then, when they felt like they were going to burst, did Aoi allow them to leave and go to the train station. Aoi put the rest of the donuts in his shoulder bag, for later, and they walked the five minute walk to the station.

Aoi made Uruha wait near the entrance while he got the tickets, not wanting Uruha to know where they were going just yet. He knew he was being evil and mean and all those things but he really didn’t care. He wanted this day to be perfect, and he wanted Uruha to be surprised. Aoi quickly paid for the tickets and they were on the train in less than ten minutes. Uruha was particularly bouncy when they waited for the train to leave, Aoi thought it was cute.

The ride took about an hour and normally that would have been horror for Aoi, he absolutely hates to sit still and do nothing but stare out of the window, but this time he was a little sad to get up. Uruha had fallen asleep against his shoulder.

“Hey.” Aoi said softly, stroking Uruha’s hair out of his face. “Wake up, Uru.” He said, tapping Uruha’s shoulder.

“We’re here?” Uruha mumbled sleepily, sitting up softly and rubbing his eyes.

“Yes, come on, get up before the train leaves again.” Aoi chuckled.

Uruha unsteadily got up on his feet and walked out of the train.

“Are you still tired?” Aoi asked as Uruha put his arms around Aoi’s neck and held him tightly.

“Yes,” he mumbled, “You made us get up super early.” He reminded Aoi with a little glare before putting his face on Aoi’s shoulder.

“Eight is not super early.” Aoi rolled his eyes, prying himself away from Uruha. Uruha got touchy when he was still sleepy, that was okay at home, but not in a public place when they had places to go!

“Come, we’ve got to get going!” Aoi took Uruha’s hand and all but dragged him out of the station. Okay, so maybe it was a good thing to touch Uruha… all the time.

“Now you’re gonna tell me where we’re going, right?” Uruha asked once they got out of the station and were crossing a market square.

Aoi stopped walking, tugging at Uruha’s hand until Uruha was standing in front of him.

“I don’t know.” Aoi teased, squeezing Uruha’s hands and smiling that evil smile he had created especially for this day.

“Come on, Aoi!” Uruha said in his cutest, whiniest voice, shooting Aoi an adorable look and cute pout.

“You’re so cute when you’re curious!” Aoi laughed, ruffling Uruha’s hair. “Look behind you…”

Uruha quickly turned around. “The zoo?!” he asked, his eyes wide as he looked at the impressive entrance to the zoo.

“Yes, do you like it?” Aoi asked, pressing his chest to Uruha’s back and putting his arms around Uruha’s waist, leaning his chin down on the blonde’s shoulder.

“Yes, I do!” Uruha said enthusiastically, grabbing Aoi’s wrist and pulling him up to the entrance. “Come on, Aoi!”

Uruha was bouncy the whole time they had to queue to pay and get inside, and once they were inside there was almost no stopping him anymore. He wanted to see absolutely everything. No matter what.

First, they went to see the birds. Uruha liked to see those multicoloured feather flying around as the birds took off and flew to the other side of their cage. But when he saw that they couldn’t actually get inside of the cage, his interest faded fairly quickly and they went on to the next animals.

They were there just in time to see the bears getting fed. Uruha kept on staring at the big animals with wide eyes, he was leaning over the ledge so far that Aoi had to bite the inside of his lip so he wouldn’t pull Uruha back and hold him close to his chest.

“Be careful.” Aoi muttered softly, putting his hand on Uruha’s back.

“Look, Aoi, they’ve got babies!” Uruha pointed at the cute little brown baby bears way down in the bear cage.

“Cute.” Aoi smiled, looking at Uruha’s grin.

Then they went on to the tigers, lions and panthers. So, basically all the pretty but dangerous animals. Those were Uruha’s favourites. Uruha was sure they would feel awesome to pet and stroke.

“Maybe we can go in the cage.” He whispered, “We could ask the caretaker.”

“I don’t think that’s such a good idea!” Aoi said with scared eyes.

“Yeah…they probably don’t let just anyone inside, right?” Uruha shrugged a little disappointed.

After the tigers they went to eat an ice-cream. They both got a cone and sat down on one of the benches.

“Even the weather’s with us today.” Aoi grinned, looking at the blue sky. The January air was still cold, but it wasn’t raining or snowing or anything.

“Yeah.” Uruha nodded.

“Do you think the animals have to stay outside when it rains?” Uruha asked with concern in his voice.

“I don’t think so, they have to stay in their cage then.”

“Oh, okay…” Uruha quickly finished his ice-cream before grabbing Aoi’s hand and pulling him along to go and see the elephants.

When it was near closing time, they were sitting on one of the big stone benches in the middle of the underground aquarium. They were sitting back to back, munching on the last donuts.

They had seen every possible animal in the place for more than enough time to study them from head to tail. They had seen the dolphin show twice and now they had been through the underground aquarium three times.

“What did you like most today?” Aoi asked softly, turning his head back to look at Uruha for a second.

“I really liked the tigers,” Uruha smiled, “and the aquarium.”

Aoi nodded, the aquarium was truly beautiful. Where they were sitting then, the walls, the ceilings, everything was made out of glass and everything was part of the aquarium. Fish were swimming all over, next to them, over them, everything was blue and shiny and just beautiful.

“What did you like the most?” Uruha smiled, turning so he was sitting with his face to Aoi’s back, Aoi turned around too so that his knees touched Uruha’s.

“I liked watching you watching the animals most.” Aoi said seriously.

Uruha started blushing. “Really?” he asked softly.

“Yeah, I’ve never seen anybody as happy watching the animals at the zoo as you were.” Aoi chuckled. “You were happier than most little kids here.”

“That’s because I’ve never been here before.” Uruha admitted with a soft pout. Had he been a little too…giddy?

“Isn’t every zoo the same?” Aoi teased.

“I’ve never been to any zoo.” Uruha smiled softly. “My parents never took me places.” For a second it seemed like Uruha was gonna say more, but he just closed his mouth again and took the last donut and happily started eating it.

“I’m really happy you’re having a good time on our first date.” Aoi said softly, his cheeks colouring up a little.

“I had fun, definitely.” Uruha said, throwing the empty bag in the garbage can next to the bench.

Had fun? It’s not over yet!” Aoi said, grabbing Uruha’s hand and pulling him back up.

“There’s more?” Uruha asked as he was pulled out of the zoo by Aoi. He was a little sad that they had to go already… maybe they should have gone to see the tigers one last time? But before he knew it they were back on the big market square where Uruha now saw a fair.

Had that been there before? Uruha frowned. He must have been too excited by the zoo to notice this. There were people everywhere, everyone was drinking and eating candy and laughing. Parents were there with their children and couples were walking hand in hand.

Uruha was entranced by all the lights from the different rides and attractions. As they strolled down past all the rides and attractions Uruha found himself smiling as Aoi took his hand and squeezed it tightly.

“We don’t have a lot of time left ‘til the train leaves.” Aoi informed after about ten minutes.

Uruha regretted the fact that they had to leave already, he had only been to a fair like this twice, and that had been a long time ago with his mother. He had hoped he could maybe throw some hoops or something to win a stuffed bunny rabbit, but he wasn’t going to let the fact that they had to get going spoil everything, he was sure they were going to do at least one attraction, it seemed like Aoi was leading them to a specific attraction anyway.

“What are we going to do?”

Aoi smiled and pointed up at the Ferris wheel.

As they got closer, Uruha noticed that the thing was bigger than any Ferris wheel he had ever seen before, but then again, he doubted that he had ever been this close to an actual Ferris wheel.

Aoi quickly bought two tickets and they sat down in the cart. Uruha bounced in his seat a little. He shifted from side to side. He was just too excited! He could feel all the butterflies in his belly starting to fly around like crazy. This was so exciting. They’d probably be able to see the whole Tokyo from up there!

As the cart started moving, the chirping and the sudden movements made Uruha grab Aoi’s hand tightly.

“Are you scared?” Aoi asked softly,

Uruha quickly shook his head, but still he grabbed Aoi’s hand even tighter.

Aoi’s heart jumped as he saw Uruha’s expression. Uruha’s eyes went everywhere. He was constantly looking over the big city. Aoi was sure it was all very pretty but he wanted to look at Uruha more.

“Do you like it?” Aoi whispered, getting closer to Uruha.

Uruha tore his eyes from the scenery and looked into Aoi’s eyes. “Yes.” He said softly.

The lights were bouncing off of Uruha’s face and he was more beautiful than Aoi ever remembered. “Good.” He said honestly, swallowing deeply.

The cart momentarily stopped as they got to the very top of the Ferris wheel.

“Good.” Uruha nodded with a small smile as he leaned in and kissed Aoi.

Aoi couldn’t distinguish the difference between the butterflies in his belly from kissing Uruha from the butterflies he got from the movement of the cart. His hands went to Uruha’s hips as he pulled the blonde even closer to him.

A loud ‘Ahem’ got there attention again and Uruha blushed as he pulled back. The guy that worked there seemed rather uncomfortable about finding two guys kissing. “The ride’s over.” He mumbled, not really looking at either of the guys.

“So you really had fun, right?” Aoi asked Uruha again as they were sitting in the train back home.

Uruha nodded, making his head slide over Aoi’s shoulder, he was leaning back against Aoi again. Not that Aoi minded or something.

“I’m glad about that ‘cause… you were pretty sad the other day, huh?” Aoi bit his lip, waiting to see Uruha’s expression.

When Aoi had found Uruha last week, after he and Kai had had that huge fight, he hadn’t known what to do. His heart had broken because there was nothing he could do. Nothing Uruha wanted him to do.

Uruha just smiled softly, they both knew that this was the closest Aoi was going to come to actually asking for an explanation about what happened then. “But I’m happy now.” Uruha said softly, turning his head and kissing Aoi’s cheek. “Isn’t that enough?”

Aoi swallowed, his throat feeling a little dry. Uruha crawled even closer, settling himself on Aoi’s lap. They were almost alone in the train anyway, and Uruha knew they both needed the contact.

“Yeah.” Aoi said softly, kissing Uruha’s head.

Uruha fell asleep in Aoi’s lap five minutes later.
