This is a video of a couple of my friends skydiving. Tom, if you're still reading this, check out Anton and John (Poole) at Lillo. It's John's camera work. Unfortunately, the image of the MRI scan at the end is also John's.

I just heard from a friend of mine that he is heading in for surgery soon due to a herniated disc in his neck. Yes, it was a skydiving injury. This time it was a hard opening. And, the killer about that is that there is nothing you can do about it, he didn't do anything wrong. It was just one of those things.

This has given me pause. I have been thinking that I will be more measured when I return to skydiving - certainly I won't do as many jumps in one day. I will probably limit my barrel rolling. And, I will be careful when I am moving into trying formation flying and free flying, if I ever get that far! But, no matter how careful or measured I am with this sport, it is still dangerous. This is giving me pause at the moment.

At present I have a back injury which is still lingering and the verdict is that there is a disc problem. Now here's another back injury, this time far more serious and requiring surgery. And then there is R who has a trapped nerve and may require surgery (initial injury caused by kickboxing but brought on by wind tunnel work). T broke a vertebra from a hard landing. In the video A is strapping up his ankle (although he's a wuss ;-) Joking, joking!!). And two instructors have had serious injuries over the last year (broken pelvis and the smashing of both legs). Hmmmm.

That's all I'm saying for now. Just hmmmmm.

Awesome video though...
