Day 8: Today I saw hundreds of geese as I ran by the lake. It was amazing. Here are two.
I accomplished a lot today. Woke up semi-early and went to class. Today's class was photography. It's all sophmore graphic design students and me. There is one male in the class other than our teacher. I've never seen him around our tiny campus before, but he came and sat down next to me and said "Hi. My name is Steve." So I said hi back with a little wave and went back to being the loner that I tend to be at that school. My professor is really nice and seems like a pretty cool dude. He really wants us to do well. I hope I don't disappoint him. I stayed after class even though he let us go early. I showed him Dad's old camera and asked if it was ok to use. He checked it out to make sure it worked right and all it needed was a battery.. thank gosh. I'm kind of stoked to get to use the same camera my dad used in his photography classes at the Art Institute for my photography class. It makes me feel closer to him or something. I'm proud to use his camera... even if my professor called it cheap and "Mickey Mouse" (what does that mean anyways?) After class I came home and made the best spinach salad of my life.. it was baby spinach leaves, carrots, cheese and italian seasoned polock fillets. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but it was scrumptious. After that I grabbed some stuff and ran to the bank to deposit money, then to radioshack to get the battery for my dad's camera. After that I drove to the post office at the other end of McKnight Rd to get my passport picture taken and finish applying for it. I also sent out my voter registration form. For anyone who hasn't registered yet.. DON'T FORGET! After I left the post office I went to campus to return my super late library books and buy my textbooks. I love going in the library at school, although I don't do it very often. But the librarian who works at the front desk is such an adorable little old lady.. and she gets the biggest smile on her face when I go in there. So I went in today and she asked how she could help me, and I said I needed to return a couple of books that I had completely forgotten about and that I needed to pay them some money since they were late. And she took me over to check them in and completely waved the fee and thanked me for being honest with her. She's so sweet. After that I went to the library to buy my textbooks and they didn't even have the one that I specifically went there to get. No Photography book. Argh. I have to read like 6 chapters in it by Friday. DAMNIT! I don't know what I'm going to do. I could buy it online, but that's not going to help me get my reading assignment done for Friday. Hmm.... I did manage to find the text for my psych class. It's the smallest textbook I've ever had to buy and it was like $150. Ridiculous! I bought it anyway though. I'm hoping that our teacher tells us we don't need it on Thursday so I can return it. I doubt that will happen though. It's a psych class... of course you need your book! After I left school I went to the park and went for my walk/run around the lake. There were a million geese out today. They were beautiful. I didn't see any deer, unlike yesterday when I saw at least 42 on a single hillside. I did however see a guy riding a unicycle while walking (?) two huge dogs on leashes, as well as an old man who resembled a lumberjack sitting on a bench with a music stand in front of him playing the violin. It sounded beautiful. I also came across fucking Josh Litvik. I hate that kid. He's such a snob. As I walked past him, he looked me up and down and gave me the dirtiest look ever. You know what I say to that?? FUCK YOU, JOSH LITVIK... you fucking fag. Come out of the closet already. You're not fooling anyone! That's what I say to that. Gosh, I hate that kid. After finishing my run/walk I got in my car and came home and took a shower then talked to Dann. I like having good, productive days... and I'm pretty sure time spent in the wilderness makes me a happier person in general. :) Now I think I'm off to the kitchen to prepare something amazingly tasty for dinner and possibly hang out with Sara for the evening and I'll be watching The Biggest Loser tonight for sure. Tomorrow's a long day... work for 8 hours followed by class for 5 hours. Argh. At least I get to sleep in Thursday. I wonder what I'll take a picture of tomorrow though since I'll be such a busy little bee... It will probably be something stupid. I'm sorry in advance. Haha Sincerely, Erica Lynn Elizabeth
