There were a few things class 3-A expected as a reward for how well they did at Sports Day but having their homeroom teacher enter the class and first thing saying that they were going on a trip wasn't among those things. One more thing that made their mouths drop open was that they would be going with class 3-B who had won first place in the competition, themselves having climbed on the honorable second step of the podium.

Two days after the announcement, the two classes found themselves in a big bus. The drive to their destination, a forest not too far from Tokyo but not too close to it either, was as rowdy as it could have been. Who ever heard of students of any age behaving themselves on a field trip? Paper airplanes were flying from one end of the bus to the other, no one would keep to their seats and, sometimes, the two homeroom teachers took turns with keeping an eye on them, music blasted from all corners of the cramped space and not two sources played the same song, loud and obnoxious laughing drove the supervisors up the hypothetical walls.

Everyone breathed a huge sigh of relief when they got out off the bus because it had started smelling quite unpleasantly from all the opened food bags. They retrieved their belongings from the bus and gathered around their respective homeroom teacher to see who they would be paired up with in a room, after which they all took their stuff into the cabin they would be staying at and went off to explore.

Shou and his three closest friends and classmates were walking on a path through the forest, chatting, making jokes and taking pictures of what they thought was interesting or looked really nice. The path they were on intersected with another and they heard voices. Waiting to see who it was, they made out three silhouettes through the trees. Coming out from among them were Tora, Yomi and Isshi.

"Hey, guys! Seen anything interesting?" Tora greeted as the three approached the others.

"A few nice sights - we took some pictures." Shou answered and pointed to the camera Hiroto had hanging around his neck. "But it's really hot! You'd think it'd be cooler under all these trees and in this time of year."

"I've had it up to here with your whining, you prissy baby!" Hiroto snapped and emphasized what he meant by showing his level of irritation with his hand, level that passed his height by quite a lot.

Shou jumped like burned and took a few steps to distance himself when he felt something foreign being dunked on him. Looking at the culprit, he saw Akiya holding one of their two-litre water bottles, uncapped, half of the water from it gone and the brunette smiling as sweetly as possible. For who knew Akiya, that smile said more than a thousand words and they weren't sweet - they were as snarky as he could make them out to be.

"I'm sorry if I scared you, Shou." The sweet tone of doom! "I was only trying to make you feel better." Shou wanted to warn everybody to cover their ears so they wouldn't fall under Akiya's spell like the poor sailors who fell under the spell of the mermaids' song and were lured to their death.

However, he didn't and he controlled himself from letting his composure fall because of what he saw being prepared. When Akiya was the victim of the same treatment he had applied to Shou, the brown haired teen couldn't hold in his laughter - none of them could. Akiya was dripping wet from head to toe - he didn't have Shou's reflexes to jump out of the way of the menacing water or he was simply too stunned that he had fallen victim to his own plan - and stood stock still while an entire bottle of water was poured down on him.

"Start running." he warned Isshi, the culprit, with a no-nonsense tone of voice and started chasing after his 'attacker' a split second later.

He only had one thing on his mind: Revenge! That's why Akiya didn't pay attention to his surroundings, not caring if he got lost while chasing Isshi. The only comforting thought was that Isshi would get lost with him and that he had a chance to get back at the other student for the unneeded shower when he would eventually stop, realizing they had gotten lost.

However, Akiya was starting to lose those thoughts because he had lost sight of Isshi and he certainly didn't know what part of the forest he was in. He was now looking for the other more in hopes of keeping his calm about being lost.

He stopped running and regained his breath a short while, after which he started walking again, looking for Isshi. The forest was now thinker, with more lush vegetation and the light that made its way through the leaves wasn't as abundant anymore. When in such a place you're grabbed by someone and pinned on the ground, you don't always think that person was the one you were looking for. That's why Akiya was scared stiff but when he saw that it was Isshi who pinned him down, he relaxed and released a heavy breath.

"Don't do that! I don't want to suffer a heart attack so early on in my life."

Isshi chuckled and his grip on Akiya slackened but he didn't get up. Looking at him to see why, Akiya saw he was smiling, genuinely smiling, and he couldn't help but smile too. Isshi leaned down and captured Akiya's lips in a gentle kiss, something that wouldn't have ruined the serene moment and went along wonderfully with the calm surroundings.

A few seconds later, they broke apart, looked into each other's eyes and smiled a little wider. Isshi once again kissed Akiya but this time it was more passionate. His hands were planted on the ground, supporting him. He slowly brought his body flush against Akiya's, weighing down on him, causing small moans to escape the brunette's throat and his own. They broke apart when they started hearing voices calling for them.

"We'd better go greet them looking presentable." Akiya said, thinking about all the leaves that had probably stuck in his hair and the dirt that most certainly wouldn't be getting off his clothes that easily.

"What's the hurry? You're not going to run away now that I've kissed you, are you?" Isshi asked as he raised his upper body to get a better look at Akiya. The one under him only raised an eyebrow. "A kiss can mean a lot of things. It can be friendly, a spur-of-the-moment thing that you'll regret later on, a declaration of love..."

"You do realize that if they see us like this we'll never hear the end of it, right?" the brunette interrupted.

Isshi was still as stubborn as a mule. "We'll never hear the end of it either way. Plus, this is quite a comfortable position." he said and shifted a little so he could better use Akiya as a human pillow.

"I'm still here, aren't I?" the brunette said after a sigh. "If I wanted to run away screaming bloody murder I would have done so already."

That was all Isshi needed to hear.

The seven companions had regrouped and were currently sitting in a sunny clearing on some tree logs that probably were brought down by a storm. Shou's shirt was on a branch, directly in the sunlight, so it would dry faster. Nao was massaging his back, trying to get his circulation back into motion - walking around with the wet shirt on caused the brown haired teen's back to freeze and become really stiff.

"If I catch a cold, Akiya, you're going to pay through the nose." he threatened through shivers and rubbed his arms with his hands. He was starting to feel a little better, thanks to Nao nursing him.

Akiya gasped in a hurt manner but didn't get to say anything because an annoyed Hiroto butted in. "Would you quit your whining, you big baby?! All you did today was whine and whine and whine!"

"Who stuck a carrot up your ass?" Yomi interrupted Hiroto's ranting.

"Bite me!"

"If there's something worth biting down there, with pleasure." Yomi retorted, smirking, nudging his chin in the general direction of Hiroto's crotch. "But you'd wish, short stuff."

"Let's keep it PG-13, guys, okay?" Tora spoke up and put a hand on Yomi's shoulder to get his attention. "There is a baby among us, isn't there?" he smirked at Shou.

"Ha ha." the offended and still a little stiff teen mock-laughed.

"I was trying to go for one of the smart ones. It seems that it's a new trend of some sort." The others didn't understand where he was going and didn't say anything. Yomi saw this as a chance to continue. "Well, first there's Saga with Pooh boy over there." he said as he got up from the log he was sitting on and took a few steps to the side so he would be seen clearly by the other six. "And while we're here, we shouldn't forget Ruka."

"Yomi..." Tora's voice had a little warning in its tone.

"It was funny to see him try and get the little darling as flustered as he could but after a while it just got plain annoying! I'm surprised he didn't sneak into our luggage so he could finally have Nao all to himself now that Saga isn't here."

"Yomi, that's enough." Tora's voice was more firm now.

However, Yomi didn't pay attention. "And now, our very own classmate, Isshi!" he nominated. "With his running rival..."

"I said that's enough!" Tora jumped to his feet and was in Yomi's face faster than you could say 'bread crumbs on a yellow brick road'.

Still, it looked like Yomi was in a I'm-not-going-to-be-intimidated state. "But it all started with you! Just because you don't know when to call it quits with him!" he pointed to Shou, who looked lost as to what to say to defend himself, just like the other four speechless students.

"Say what you want about me but leave Shou and his friends out of it."

Shou got up and approached Tora and Yomi, not liking the tones the two were adopting. "Tora, listen. Maybe..."

"I can handle this, Shou." the brunette cut him off.

"That's it, little pet. Do what your master tells you to."

That was the last straw. Tora grabbed Yomi's collar and yanked him up to his eye level, which wasn't all that pleasant, considering Yomi was a lot shorter than Tora. "My patience is wearing thin. I'm telling you to leave them alone and you're going to tell the others to leave them alone, too." Shou was more than surprised at the restraint he heard in Tora's voice. He could tell the brunette was trying really hard to contain his anger and not hit Yomi right then and there.

"So, now you're defending them, eh? Thinking of choosing them over us?"

Tora was starting to get really angry with Yomi's nerve. What had gotten into the guy?! "I might not have spent too much time with them but I know they're well-intended and if the others think like you do, then I have to say I'm sorry to have wasted the past two years. Maybe I should just consider cutting all ties with you."

"Is that what you really want, Tora?" Yomi narrowed his eyes. "You might not like the outcome of those words."

"Is that a threat?" Shou once again considered interfering, afraid that Tora might actually sock Yomi a good one.

"Take it as you want. What's for sure is that Uruha certainly won't be happy with what you said."

With clear restraint in his movements and voice, Tora shoved Yomi away from him. "Get out of here. I don't feel like seeing your face for a long time." After a glare showdown, Yomi turned his back to the five remaining boys and left the clearing. Tora kept glaring after him but when he felt a hand on his shoulder he turned his head around fast and glared at whoever had touched him.

Shou retracted his hand fast and jumped a little because of Tora's sudden movement, not to mention he was scared by the look in the brunette's eyes. He had seen him angry quite a few times but never before with such intensity.

Tora blinked and when he saw Shou was the receiver of his glare he turned away from him and took a few steps to distance himself from the others.

"Tora, you okay?" Shou gently asked as he put an arm around the brunette's shoulders. He had walked right after him, not wanting to leave him alone when he was so furious.

"I'm sorry you had to hear that." Tora replied with a more level voice, running his fingers through his hair.

"Don't make excuses for him! It's not your fault he's an ass!"

Tora didn't reply - he just sighed gravely. He felt Shou's hand leave his shoulder and thought that maybe his friend didn't want to put up with his brooding moment. He really couldn't blame him, though.

"I know what'll cheer you up." Tora didn't expect to hear Shou's perky voice a few seconds after he thought the other had gone back to Hiroto, Nao, Akiya and Isshi. "Turn around and look at this."

"If you have a bug in your hand, I swear I'm going to rip a branch from one of those fallen trees and shove it up your ass." Shou was trying to cheer him up so he saw no reason to deflate the other's mood. Of course, the fact that Shou really had a bug didn't help all that much. Needless to say, Tora forgot about the branch threat when a stick with a big cockroach was presented in front of his eyes.

They eventually returned to the cabin when their stomachs started to protest to not being fed for a long time. It had gotten dark when they arrived and, to their delight, dinner was just being served. After having their fill, the two classes gathered in the foyer where they participated in various activities that their homeroom teachers thought of until the fine hour of midnight, when they were all ushered into their rooms to sleep.

"Well, today sure was eventful." Akiya said as he lay down in his bed and turned off the light. He and Shou were paired up in a room and Nao was paired up with Hiroto. Both Shou and Akiya pitied Nao.

"Yeah. At least I didn't catch a cold." Shou answered and they both laughed.

"But, dude, I've never seen Tora so angry."

"Neither have I." Shou replied. "But I do agree with him. It's like Yomi, Uruha and the others don't even want to give us a chance - especially me."

"Yeah, but look at Saga. He and Nao are really happy together. Maybe those guys will see reason one of these days." Akiya offered.

"I doubt it." Shou answered from his side of the room. "Anyway, what Yomi said about you and Isshi - was that just him 'making conversation' or is there some truth in it?"

Akiya could swear Shou was smirking playfully but the darkness stopped him from confirming his suspicion. With a sigh, he gave up because Shou would have stuck to him like a leech and he would have eventually let it all out just to get rid of him. "Yes, there's truth. We're together."

"Since when?" Akiya no longer needed to have any confirmation. He was certain Shou was smiling.

"Since today." the brunette laughed. "When I chased him, he gave me the slip somehow and then snuck up on me. From one thing to another we ended up kissing." A moment of silence passed, until Akiya broke it. "Still, what about you and Tora, hmm?

He smirked when he heard Shou groaning. "I only put a hand on his shoulder and I was comforting him because he was so angry. That's what friends do, you know."

"Yeah, but the arm attached to that hand was around Tora giving him a half hug and you were practically gluing yourself to his side. Need I remind you that you were shirtless?"

"Good night, Akiya!"

The brunette laughed at Shou's flustered tone and hastened reply. Maybe if he, Nao and Hiroto continued with this teasing, they would be able to get Shou to do something. It was obvious he liked Tora and they didn't want to see him not being happy on Uruha's account who, from Akiya's point of view, didn't deserve even the strength of Tora's fart. After the brunette confronted Yomi earlier that day, Akiya's opinion of Tora changed drastically. It was obvious he cared a lot about Shou, too.

1. So, how was it? Are my fears of it being lame and sucky and failing grounded?
