Series 1:

Entry 1: 

"Staff: Recruited PC Gwen Cooper. Incredible resistance to the amnesia pill...and amazing insight. We need her on the team. Gwen Cooper has suggested that we work closely with the police. Helping people, making a difference. She was persuasive and has led me to re-assess Torchwood's remit.

Will proceed with Gwen advising on the human angle for each case. Possible security issue with her partner, Rhys Williams. Will need to monitor phone calls and emails for trigger words or phrases - minimum of three months. Gwen not to be informed of this."


Entry 2:

"Security: Monitoring of Gwen Cooper's communication continues - no breaches yet, partner Rhys Williams still unaware of TW or Gwen's new role."

"Staff: In her first day on the job, Gwen Cooper's carelessness caused the escape of the gaseous alien, which led to many deaths across the city. In summary: perhaps not ideal. However, it was her focus on the human aspect of the case, and research into the civilian's background, that helped us track down the alien. She was prepared to offer her life to correct her mistake, and coped extremely well under pressure. She could prove to be a valuable member of the team."

"Upcoming issues: Gwen Cooper to receive advanced weapons training."


Entry 3:

"Security: Quantum Transducer taken out of Hub by Gwen Cooper, despite my instructions."

"Staff: Firearms training with Gwen Cooper went well. She proved to be extremely adept at handling and firing a weapon."


Entry 6:

"Other Staff issues: Gwen Cooper shot in abdomen, but will make a full recovery."


Entry 8:

"Gwen successfully revived her [Suzie], but somehow the Glove kept a continuous flow of energy going between them, keeping Suzie alive. I was forced to kill Suzie again to save Gwen's life."


Entry 9:

"Other security issues: It has now been over three months since Gwen Cooper joined Torchwood. Have discontinued phone and email surveillance, as there are no signs of a breach, or of her partner finding out what she does. Am confident that she is fully committed to the team."


Entry 11:

"Other security issues: Two amnesia pills missing, when Gwen was alone in the Hub. She thinks I don't know, and I haven't said anything. Later that night, she seemed very troubled. Whatever she used them for, I'm guessing it didn't go well. I won't mention it to her; it looks like she learned her lesson."


Series 2:

Entry 14:

"Other Staff issues: Gwen is now engaged. I'm happy for her, but I'm concerned about what it might mean - can she stay here, still keeping everything from Rhys? I worry that we're going to lose her. "


Entry 15:

"Other security issues: Gwen taken hostage again. I’m beginning to think she’s jinxed."


Entry 17:

"If he’d [Rhys] got killed, I think Gwen would have grabbed a knife and made me go through eternity without the use of my mini Captain and his two lieutenants."

"Other security issues: After much discussion, and some colorful metaphors from Gwen, we agreed (sort of) not to give Rhys the amnesia pill. He’s been through enough, and won’t give anything away - he knows that if he does, he’ll be putting Gwen’s life in danger. It was pretty much an ultimatum from Gwen, and we can’t afford to lose her over this. If she says Rhys will keep quiet, then that’s good enough for me. Although it wouldn’t hurt to monitor the phone lines again, just for a month. Maybe two."


Entry 22:

"Our old friends the Nostrovites showed up, and used Gwen as an incubator for their eggs. Gwen was understandably not pleased."

"Alien technology: The Singularity Scalpel was used to remove the eggs from Gwen, and worked perfectly."

"Gwen’s mother taken hostage. Must run in the family."

"Staff: Despite the alien’s - and our - stomping around and breaking stuff, Gwen and Rhys managed to get married in the end. We’re all happy for them. Maybe it is possible to have a life outside Torchwood. I can’t lie though - rushing in and shouting ‘’stop the wedding’’ was enormous fun. I’m sure Gwen and Rhys will be able to laugh about that, one day. Years, decades from now, maybe."


Entry 24:

"Staff: Gwen would never have found the facility if Ianto hadn’t helped her. He was wrong to do that. But, of course, he was actually right in the end. There’s no way Gwen would have let it go. I should have trusted her with the information, but I knew what it would do to her. Sometimes, the only way to realise that you shouldn’t look behind that door is to actually go and look. Gwen learned that. Nikki learned that. We all did."
