Chapter Two Hankyung rubbed his eyes as he walked into his apartment. He had to call his parents; he walked over to the phone tripping over the couch corner and falling onto the floor, barely missing the corner of the table. He sighed, got up and reached for the phone. He dialed a familiar number, one he hadn’t dialed in ages. He waited for a few rings and a woman picked up the phone. “Wei?” she spoke, but silence was her answer. “Wei?” Again she asked, but again silence was her answer. Both sat there, sobs were quietly heard on the other said, “Han Geng?” “Ma,” Hankyung called out for his mom. She broke into all out tears. “Ma, don’t cry,” he didn’t mean for this call to get emotional. “Ahh, why are you crying? What happened, who is it?,” a man, full of concern in his voice asked his voice. He then picked up the phone, “Wei?” “Ba,” Hankyung answered his dad. Slowly Hankyung broke down, he let out a sob. “Han Geng,” He father whispered before he started to weep with his wife. Through the night, all three Hans’ weep, there were no words exchanged, for words could not come with comfort they needed. It was early morning, when Hankyung woke up. His eyes blood-shot, his stained by tears, his back ache from sleeping on the couch. He looked at the phone. “Ma, Ba, I’m going now, take care,” Hankyung hung up the phone and looked to the clock on his wall, it read 2. He got four hours of sleep. He sighed, running his hand through his untidy hair. He decided to take a shower, and sleep some more before Siwon came over to get his things. He grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom to shower. Minutes later, Hankyung came out of a steam-filled room, drying his hair. He threw the towel onto the dresser and fell onto the bed. He slept for about three more hours before he was rudely awaken by a knock on his door. Hankyung groaned and went to go open the door, to his surprise it was Donghae and Siwon. “He wanted to come and see for himself,” Donghae smiled at Hankyung. “Are you okay? Your eyes are a little red,” Donghae asked as he looked at Hankyung’s appearance. “It’s nothing just talked to my parents yesterday,” he smiled, and moved aside so the pair won’t have to stand outside anymore. “You’re apartment is… clean,” Siwon looked around, and sat on the couch. Donghae rolled his eyes, Hankyung suppressing a laugh. He cleared his throat, “Would you like anything to drink?” “No, go pack, you’re leaving in two hours. I have to get the office, and review papers for the meeting today, damn people can’t do anything right. I want Hankyung in my office before lunch,” Siwon got up as quickly as he got down and walked out of Hankyung’s apartment. Hankyung looked at him, “you wouldn’t mind if I can’t my parents again would you? Telling them I’m moving.” “No, not at all,” Donghae smiled. “If you don’t mind, where is your room? Siwon was afraid you would only have one big suitcase so he had me bring my own, that slave driver.” Hankyung directed Donghae to his room, and went back to the phone. He looked at it, and slowly dialed the number. “Wei? Han Geng,” Hankyung’s mother picked up the phone. “Yes, Ma, I’m moving to my boss’ house, something about working there. I’ll call you where I get there, so you can get the number,” Hankyung explained to his mom. ”Han Geng ah, remember to call more often then, we love you,” and with that Hankyung and his mother hung up. “Are you okay?” Donghae asked from behind. Hankyung shot around to face him, “Ahh~ why are you crying?” Donghae came forward to wipe Hankyung’s tears. Hankyung let Donghae wipe them away, before blinking and backing away, wiping the tears away himself. “You’re done?” Hankyung looked at his suitcase. “Yeah, and you have very little clothes, I put the pictures and books into my suitcase. I think you and I should go shopping before we head into the office.” Donghae suggested. “I can’t, I can’t use your money, and my clothes are fine,” Hankyung protested, not wanting Donghae to spend money on him. “Nonsense,” Donghae waved Hankyung off. “Come on, get your suitcase and meet me downstairs.” Donghae grabbed his suitcase and rolled it out the room. Hankyung looked after him, and grabbed the portrait of his family. He smiled and looked one more time, in case he was missing anything. He slowly closed the door, and went downstairs to meet Donghae. There he spotted Donghae next to his car, waiting for Hankyung. “There you are,” Donghae headed him with the suitcase and looked the picture. “It’s a nice picture; you want to put it in the backseat?” Hankyung thought a moment, and nodded slowly. Donghae opened the car door and took the picture, placing it carefully in the backseat, and just to make Hankyung happy is placed the seat beat on is as well. Hankyung smiled and waited for Donghae to get to his side of the car before slipping into the passenger seat. “Okay, where to get coats, do you shop at H&M?” Donghae asked Hankyung as he signaled back onto the main road. “Never even heard of it,” Hankyung commented as he looked out the window. It was a weird habit of his, but he loved looking out the window, watching the people walk and watching nature, slowly his eyes became heavy and darkness came to his world. Donghae turned to say something to Hankyung, but seeing that he was asleep he decided against it. The rest of the car ride was silent, Donghae finally reached Siwon’s house. He leaned over, shaking Hankyung awake. “Hankyung, we’re here, wake up,” Donghae whispered. Hankyung stirred before rubbing the sleepiness out of his eyes. “Sorry, I fell asleep,” Hankyung looked at his surrounds. “This is where I’ll be living?!” Hankyung turned to Donghae. “Yup, I live two blocks down from here,” Donghae smiled. “Come on, I’m sure Siwon told his people you were coming.” Hankyung nodded, still trying to recover from the shock, followed Donghae in getting his stuff and going into the house. There he was greeted with the kindest people he had ever might in his life, not including his parents of course. Hankyung looked at the beautiful paints on the walls, “This place is beautiful.” Donghae laughed, “of course it is, Siwon would never go for anything else. Come on, let’s get you to your room, and changed so we can get to work before Siwon kills us.” Hankyung nodded, before following Donghae to his room, “Here we are.” Donghae opened the door, and gasps. “It’s nice, isn’t it?” “This is bigger than my apartment,” Hankyung gawked at the interior design. He noticed the bed and felt it. “It’s so soft.” “You shouldn’t get used to it too much; you’ll barely have anytime to actually it,” Donghae told Hankyung as he spread himself out on the bed. Donghae looked at his watch, “We have to hurry, get changed. I’m sure Siwon got some temporary work clothes for you.” Donghae went over to the closest and got some clothes for him. “Here you go, hurry.” Donghae looked at his watch again as he pushed Hankyung into the bathroom. Minutes later Hankyung came out refreshed and ready to go. “Do I look okay?” Hankyung looked at himself before looking at Donghae. “Yes, you look like a 1 million won*,” Donghae smiled at him. “Okay come on, Siwon has a meeting in about an hour and you have to be there.” Donghae pulled Hankyung out the room, out the house and pushed him into the car. “Alright, let’s go~” Donghae backed out of the driveway and sped off to Choi Empire. Hankyung looked at the window; not caring about the speed, not caring about anything, that was going around him, and his eyelids dropped again. Ten minutes later, Donghae pulled up to his parking spot and gently woke Hankyung up. “We’re here,” Hankyung said in Chinese, forgetting where he was. “What?? I don’t know Chinese,” Donghae smiled at him and exited the car. “But we’re here, come on, we better hurry.” Donghae pulled Hankyung and ran into the building. “Donghae, he’s about to blow, hurry up,” people yelled at Donghae, making him run even faster. Getting onto the elevator Donghae and Hankyung rested before straighten up and heading towards Siwon’s door. Donghae stopped at his desk and handed Hankyung a voice recorder and a folder. “Go,” Donghae knocked on the door and winced when he heard the voice. As Hankyung went in, he mouthed the words ‘good luck’ to him. Hankyung stepped into the room and closed the door behind him. He didn’t dare look into Siwon’s eyes. “I see you found the clothes I put in your closest,” Siwon’s voice flat, with a hint of coldness. “Yes… Thank you,” Hankyung switched from Chinese to Korean when he realized his mistake. “I have a meeting in… ten meetings.” Siwon informed him. “You’ll be going to every one of my meetings, recording then typing the meeting out for me. I need a record of all the meetings I go to.” Hankyung looked at him, “but that’s... everyone probably has the same voice though.” Korean to Chinese, Hankyung was dreadfully nervous. He didn’t want to mess up in front of his boss and most not in front of his boss’ business partners. “I don’t care, come, the meeting will start soon,” Siwon got up and exited the room, Hankyung looked at his retreating back. He was in for a world of games, world where cheating and lying got you far; could he keep up with Siwon? |
