Not enough

Sara looked around one last time.

“Maybe he needed her to leave him.” His words were still hammering inside her brain, making her heart hurt.

Sara hadn’t stopped loving him, and she was sure, if Gil could love any woman, it would be her.

She was breathing hard and tears filled her eyes. “Tell me how I’m supposed to deal with that, because I sure as hell don’t know.” She wasn’t sure if her thought was directed to herself or to him.

“I still do love you, Gil,” she whispered to the empty room.
“But sometimes…sometimes even love isn’t enough.”
