I downloaded Google Chrome Beta, Google's new >Internet browser. I'm running a lot of Google stuff (Mail, Notebook, Docs, Reader), so I figured, why not try the browser?
Initial Thoughts: - It looks very clean. With just the Address Bar and the Bookmarks Bar and the Tabs on top, I have more screen real estate.
- Because the commands are under some icons and there are no text toolbars, it takes some getting used to. But so far, I have been able to find the commands I need easily.
- I'm still getting used to not having my usual plug-ins and extensions in Firefox 3.0. However, since I can run Google Notebook on a separate tab here, I'm still okay. If Chrome crashes, I'm just not sure if it will save my current sessions as Session Manager in Firefox does. But then again, they do have Crash Control.
- When you open a new tab, you get this kind of page:
That's pretty cool. Makes it easier to find the pages you visit most often or the ones that you automatically have to have open whenever you go online. That's also a screencap of Chrome in action. I didn't crop that image, so it shows the extensive screen real estate I was talking about. - Regarding LJ: The Add Link and Add Image modules in Rich Text mode work fine here, unlike in Firefox 3.0, so... yay!
Issues:- The most significant issue I have so far is that the pages don't scroll up when I use my mouse wheel. But the pages scroll down fine. I have to resort to using the scrollbars to scroll up. It bothers me, but it's not that annoying... yet.
- I miss the Edit > Undo command.
