Saturday, we made a trip to Austin. (We go, maybe, twice a year anymore.) Dragon's Lair and Half Price Books were the main stops for the day. We came home with a shameless haul. My birthday isn't until next month, but I already got my gift from my husband. I've had my eye on the Chronicles of Narnia unabridged audio CDs for some time now, but they list at about 75.00. Half Price Books had them for 35.
Sunday is likely to be busy. The dog needs a bath as he's going to the vet on Monday. Nothing serious, an allergy shot. He does apparently have a touch of arthritis. In a nine year old dog, that's not all that rare. Monday, we also need to get Tom's school books squared away. His online classes begin at the end of the month.
Normally, I do my cleaning on Monday, but with the appointment scheduled, I might crank up Sims 2 in the afternoon and do the pick work during my loading times. Just basic stuff like laundry and dishes. Since we went out today, the yard was put on hold again. So, I might get that done after we get the dog home on Monday. Might have time for some of it after I get done inside. Have to wait until 4 PM or so when the sun is lower and the heat isn't so much.
Seems funny to be discussing heat when much of the US is getting colder and preparing for snow or, in at least one place, has already had it! I'm very much looking forward to the delivery and installation of our new back door. I think it will be nice to be able to sit out on that little cement slab that's supposed to be a patio and have natural light for reading and maybe needlework as well. I have a small folding table that can be hauled around easily. I've been discussing an awning or some other type of overhead cover for the patio with the other half. He wants one of those porch swings. I can deal with that! I still want overhead cover because the back of the house is in direct sunlight most of the day; in summer it gets very hot. This IS Texas after all.
And speaking of needlework, I'm working on the last panel of that pink Mother Goose scrapbook/photo album and should have it put together by the end of this week! I'm trying to decide what the next project should be!
This week, unless Tom starts a new job, will be clean out the kitchen cabinets week. Going to haul everything out, wash the liners, run the Dust Buster in each cabinet and put them back together. I laid in a bunch of "toss it in the oven foods" for this. Let's be honest, while tearing apart a kitchen, the last thing one wants is to be cooking a huge dinner. What I would really love is to be having the kitchen remodeled, but other stuff comes first. I've talked the other half into a couple of cabinets that will make things easier in the kitchen. With my problems bending, they will make life a little easier. I don't like depending on people. I think we've agreed on this, it's an angled corner upper cabinet with a Lazy Susan. Want something similar for the bottom so I can actually use the contents of the cabinet.
2PM
I stayed up late like 6AM, woke at 9:45 to the sound of the dog knocking on the patio door to get in. The other half had the door to the Man Cave closed and couldn't hear him. I crawled back into bed, I had the alarm set for 12 as the gamers were due at 1 PM. The dog needed bathing.
The alarm woke me from a dead sleep, never good. I felt groggy when I dragged myself up. However, unlike my son, who was still dragging his feet at 12:20, I was dressed and had some of the Krispy Kreme doughnuts that we got in Austin yesterday. The company was arriving while we were bathing the pooch in the driveway. Shottie was not pleased. The expression was priceless, "Oh, the indignity. I'm only going to tolerate this a little bit longer then I'll get YOU all wet."
I went out and trimmed the rest of the house perimeter and along one side of the walkway. I need to get the blower out there. I'm not working out there with the guys wandering in and out, so it will keep until after the errands for tomorrow are done. Need to do a Wally World run tonight, I think, so the other half has a few lunches in the freezer. Need to pick up another set of safety goggles while I'm there. Tom and I will both be needing them in the backyard.
I have laundry running that will be ready for a swap soon. Dishes need to be switched up as well.
It's suddenly Monday, 12:04 AM. When the company was leaving around 8, I went to lay down for a wee bit. I woke up about 11:30, hungry, thirsty, and with a full bladder. Go figure. |
