Michelle-chan came over yesterday after church and we watched a bit of anime. I've never really seen the first season of Slayers, so we watched the first DVD of that. Early '90s anime is fun, and Slayers is full of lots of crack, which makes it even better. Gourry + ditzy blonde~ness = awesome. Of course, I always liked Zelgadis too. Watched Slayers Revolution, episode 1, later on; but without subs it was a little depressing.

Also watched Labyrinth. Seeing David Bowie in tight spandex~y pants is amusing, though kind of disturbing at times. But there was singing! And puppets! Wah. Truly an '80s movie. Apparently, I had that movie on VHS (but didn't know it), but seeing it on DVD was probably a much better idea.

Played a little bit of NiGHTS today. I really, really suck at this game. XD I could beat the first level, but I can never beat the boss. I always run out of time. And if you fail to beat him you have to do the entire level all over. Talk about frustrating.

Despite that, the flying around is a lot of fun, and I love the game's music. It's very whimsical, and it makes me feel like I'm visiting Disney World as a kid (in a good way).

The game works with four different control schemes: the Gamecube controller, the Wii remote, the Wii remote + nunchuk, or the Classic Controller. I have tried all the controls and found that the Gamecube controller and CC are just awful. The GC is a little better than the CC though, just because the analog is in a better spot. I think I'll end up using either the nunchuk and wii remote or just the wii remote. I haven't decided yet.

The graphics range from decent to acceptable. The CG movies are really pretty, but the graphics when you're running around as the two humans, Will and Helen, is kind of weird. It's really the humans that look weird though. Everything else looks fine. Of course, it probably would have helped if my high def cables were working. Playing Wii games on a high def TV isn't always a good idea... >_<
The world I visited was gorgeous. The graphics weren't breathtaking, but the design was. Waterfalls everywhere, and Roman~esque architecture. Very cool.

The weirdest thing about the game is the spoken dialogue. NiGHTS talks. It really talks. I haven't played the first one, so I shouldn't be so surprised, but I was under the impression that NiGHTS didn't talk at all. I kinda wish it still didn't...

All of the characters have British accents in the game, including NiGHTS, who is supposed to have a gender neutral voice. NiGHTS really either sounds like a young boy with a girly voice or a girl with a sort of deeper voice. It's hard to explain...

Anyway, I put it aside for now until I get the guts to go back and replay the level and try again to beat the boss. Wish me luck! XD

Finished Velvet's story in Odin Sphere. To be honest, I was kind of relieved. Titania's final boss was a lot easier than I thought it would be, even if the level before that was irritating. The Valkyrie kept coming and coming. It seemed there would be no end...

So I went back after that and finished Cornelius' story (again) since I was on his epilogue chapter. I'm going to try and level all my people up to 40 before I attempt Armageddon.

There's a good chance Tales of Hearts is going to come to America. I wonder what of Tales of the World 2? Since the first World game came out in the states, I could see the possibility of the sequel coming out as well.

At any rate, good news for those of us who have DSs.
