English- Took this ridiculously hard test on Book 1 of The Iliad. I read the intro 4 times, and the actual text 1 1/2 times (not counting reading the Sparknotes twice), and I still couldn't answer half the questions.

I can only hope everyone else struggled as much and Mrs. S will have mercy on us.

Modern Film & Lit- Today Mr. Phil held up a V mask, said this was our new class mascot, and made several unsuccessful attempts to hang it up on the wall with magnets. We've moved past laughing at him; now we just feel sort of sad/grossed out.

Thing is, he told us he actually hated the movie V for Vendetta. I was this close to pegging him as an idiot when he added "I liked the book a lot more." Excuse me? Book? V for Vendetta is based off a "graphic novel," aka comic book, loser. I understand it has strong ties to 1984 and I love that, but when you say "the book," you're obviously referring to the fucking comic.

Your opinion officially means nothing to me.

Also, we continued to watch Little Miss Sunshine. I think most everyone likes it which makes me really happy for no understandable reason. :D

Newspaper- We were supposed to start layout today, but everyone's articles still need a ton of editing, so we barely got around to it. We're so fucked. Yeah, good luck getting this issue out before elections.

Psychology- Mr. Bailey spent the first 50 minutes of class talking about all the girls he made out with in highschool and college, and how he would tell their boyfriends that he was kissing their girlfriends and OMG u guise he was so BA you wouldn't even believe! D:

Lol, he called postpartum depression "after-baby disease" today. I laughed. xD

Ok, so after all this, I'm thinking we're not going to get around to presenting projects today, but all of a sudden he switches gears completely, and he calls this girl with a cookie dough brain up to the front of the class and after 5 second he's like, yeah, ok, bring that over here. The girl carries it over to his desk and Mr. Bailey asks if he can have some. When the girl says yeah, he opens his top drawer and pulls out a plastic spoon and starts digging into it. The whole class is like WTF? You keep a spoon in your drawer? and Mr. Bailey's like of course. That's when he gets up, mumbles something about needing a plate, crosses the room and opens up the top drawer of his filing cabinet and there's just a huge pile of paper plates and plastic silverware just dumped in there.

I can't imagine what his house looks like.

Ok, so anyway, after a couple kids he calls for me, "Playdoh Queen," to present my Playdoh brain. He said he had checked out earlier this morning after I dropped it off and he had poked at it. Great. D: I still don't know why he was so fascinated with it. It was just a lump of yellow Playdoh with different colors marking off the different bits.

On a list of 19 different parts of the brain, I wasn't even through number 5 when Mr. Bailey yelled from across the room "Yeah, yeah, ok--show them what the inside looks like." I pulled the two hemispheres apart as he asked me what my favourite part of the brain was. I said I didn't know but he said that was ok and I sat down awkwardly after he turned his attention back to his spoon.

Pre-Calc- We found out at lunch that I have Abby's old desk. I was suspicious after I found "go away" doodled into the arm rest. She wrote "Bless this ho" on my desk in English at the beginning of the year.

Spanish- As much as I'm totally into near-slash mentor/pupil movies about two guys who would die for each other, I wasn't too crazy about The Guardian. It wasn't bad, though.

Tuesday came up to me and asked me to show her my Playdoh brain. Again, I was like WTF is the big deal? She said Mr. Bailey was talking about it today during her class and he called "phenomenal." The hell? It took me, like, 2 hours to make and I spent that time listening to Ricky Gervais podcasts. xD

----------

My dad took Nolan to parent-teacher conferences today and I tagged along because my self-esteem was running on empty.

I never realized until today how much I see parent-teacher conferences like an amusement park.

Quick! Only a 10 minute wait for Mr. N!
I'm too afraid to go to Mr. Bailey. D:
Oh man! It looks like that kid's going to puke all over Mr. H!

I didn't get a clear view of Nolan's grades, but I know they weren't good. My dad nearly chewed him out on the spot. My mom yelled at him this morning and she hasn't even seen the letter yet. I feel sort of bad for him, but I don't know how else I'd go about it.

I saw Mrs. S/Mr. Phil first. I had As all across the board except for an A- in Modern Film & Lit. I asked where the minus came from, and he said I got a B on my favourite movies thing from the beginning of the year. What? You mean where I listed five movies I liked, wrote why I liked them, and got a little plus sign at the top of my paper? I got a B, and it was enough to drag me down 1/3 of a grade?. I don't understand his grading system. He tells me my essays are excellent, and then I get marked down for stupid shit like this.

I'll concede this time, but if I ever drop below an A grade for similar reasons, I'm calling him out.

Next I saw Mr. T. I'm doing pretty well in his class right now, but he likes to remind me we haven't technically gotten into the pre-calc stuff yet. Gee, thanks for stroking my confidence, there. Mr. T asked, and I told him I plan to get into journalism at CMU. He seemed confused as to why, exactly, I was in his class, and I was right there with him, but then he suggested I could possibly go into math-oriented journalism, whatever the hell he meant by that. I gave him the polite "Yeah--no" smile, but he looked sort of hopeful so I dropped it.

I saw Mr. N last. He didn't have much to say, but he talked quite a bit. I wouldn't say I've ever been on his bad side, but I think I'm winning him over, know what I mean?
