My new webspace is finally available. It is located at http://blackleatherrose.stonerocket.co.uk if anyone's interested in seeing what's over there. I am still working on it and I may even change the layout once I have the spare time to do it but i've got my little online community started over there and ready to roll once people start coming in and joining up. I can't wait to get my community rolling. If you're reading this, stop by and check out my forums sometime. Registration and membership is free. What more could you ask for? Nothing, right?
The whole website thing turned out to be a fiasco. I was told via e-mail last weekend that my original web space that I had been using happily for close to a year would expire because the server was being closed down. Apparently they were finding it too difficult to continue offering free service or something for putting their ad up on your pages. I thought it was a pretty good deal. Especially after I learned php and a few other things about using a server as opposed to one of those free places like Geocities...let's not discount the old Geocities site. I done some pretty cool things with that space whenever I used it. Anyway, I moved my site earlier this week to x10 Hosting. Take my advice--never go there. The place sucked! Yes, they are free and I realize that I have no real right to complain about things but honestly, provide better free service people. Don't just nuke somebody's site and then fail to explain to them where it went.
Ok, so I spent 4 hours working on my site, preparing it for the move to a different host and all that jazz and finally got it uploaded and working. I thought all was good in cyberspace. Not so. All was not well. The next morning, I checked my e-mail after announcing my site only to find out that I had egg in my face. The site wasn't working and I had all manner of e-mails about it from those who had been attempting to look at the site. I checked it myself and it was still not up and running. Well, I thought this may have just been some sort of a hiccup in the free service so I tried logging in to check error logs in the cPanel. That didn't provide me with anything either because the site wasn't letting me log in. It was as though my account didn't exist. I e-mailed the admin at the site to ask them to check on my account for me and no one responded. That, my friend--is how my website ended up getting moved twice in one week.
That being said, if you signed up for any of my forums over the course of this past week, you will need to re-register. I don't think anyone's signed up as of yet thought.
I've got my Don Williams site over there and my Davy Jones site that i've always had with hopes of putting up some of my 3D art work in an online store that I am going to put up at a later date. |
