Well, our last day before the Galapagos, and we mostly just did a few last minute errands. This morning was the scene of a minor panic attack when my debit card didn't work...let me back up, the KSB ATM cards have never worked in this country - very convenient. So, my TD Banknorth card that I got just for the heck of it when I got a loan there came in MUY handy! Anyway, this morning we had $2 left in cash and the stupid card wouldn't work. Finally we hopped in a cab to go to the area we had stayed previously (and used an ATM) and found that the ATM there worked fine. Whew! Mom was going to get a call to Western Union some $$ to us ASAP! Anyway, after that debacle, the day was great - sunny and warm. We went to the TeleferiQo (that's not a typo)which is a tram that runs to the top of a very very tall volcano (inactive) on the outskirts of the city. Great views from the top! We did have a hard time breathing since it ends at almost 14,000 feet.
After that fun adventure, we just did some shopping and had some yummy mexican food at "Red Hot Chili Peppers" - not sure how the band would feel about that name. We got all of our laundry together and left a bag at South American Explorers (yet another taxi ride back to the area we were staying before!).
We're heading to the Galapagos early tomorrow morning, so we'll update in a week. Huevo is very excited to see the blue footed boobies and is hoping that he can sneak into the nests for a short visit with some other eggs.
