bets! and I had pancakes for breakfast after the rained-on swim this morning. She is carbo loading for Ironman Canada this coming weekend and I am carbo-loading vicariously through her. No, wait, I guess I was actually carbo-loading, that isn't vicarious at all, is it? Hmmm. Mmmm.

At lunchtime I popped over to the track at Austin High School. The weather was rain-cooled (mid-80F's?), but with the sun just breaking through and heating the rain-wet ground, damn humid.

After a 5-out-5-back (mins not miles!) warm-up (to the pFootbridge and back), my workout was 4 x 2K at pace. What pace? Hmmm. As I seem to be doing lately (c.f. determining my long run pace) I had three columns corresponding to three 15K paces based on a 3:20, a 3:30 and a 3:40 marathon time. So, I had three 2K goal times: 9:42, 9:16 and 8:51.

I did the first 2K based on effort. The second and third close to that, and got silly on the last one...

My 4 x 2K splits:
1 - 9:03
2 - 9:08
3 - 8:50
4 - 8:21

Overall, a C-, for consistency :( But I may have hit CV for the first three :-) Definitely anaerobic for the last one.

However, an A+ for a nice little confidence booster. I've been doing suitable volume of long slow distance, but other than the downhill repeats on Lost Creek Blvd. a week or so ago, this is my first little quality workout on good calves that hasn't tweaked them:) I purposefully sought out a track rather than running on the hills in my work-'hood ...

There was just me and one other guy on the track! Wow! And he was running sprints with a parachute puffed out behind him!?
