Cameron passed his hearing test with flying colors.

I, on the other hand, flunked it.

I had him on my lap, and the technician lit up various fun-looking toys. There was a Sponge Bob on the left and a Mickey Mouse on the right, each of which lit up and moved with a noisy motor. In the center, there was a yellow duck that lit up but didn't move. Cameron enjoyed when the duck lit up, and he pointed to it and said, "Duckie," and sometimes "Yellow duckie" ("da-do guckie"). Other than one very low-frequency hum which sounded like feedback, and the aforementioned motorized toys, I heard nothing, and then the tech came in and said we were all done, and C. had done great! "He looked right and left and center, exactly where all the sounds were coming from," she said. "His hearing is perfect."

Me: "Uh, were there sounds other than the motors from the toys?"
Her: "Oh, yes, lots of beeps. You didn't hear them?"
T. (to me, laughing): "Maybe you need to get your hearing checked!"
Me: (not laughing): "I guess so!"

I do need a physical. I don't think I've had one since I was a kid.
