I think Cameron's over his whatever-it-is. He had a first-class tantrum this morning. He's also back to eating regular food, though his trend toward pickiness has continued apace.
Today, however, he demonstrated understanding of how bribes work for the first time. "Eat a bite of chicken," I promised him, "and then I'll give you some pear." He ate the chicken. I gave him some pear. Again he motioned for more pear. I told him ----
[This broadcast was interrupted by the poo of the year. From the living room, Cameron's voice: "I did a uh-oh... I did a uh-oh..." Enter Mommy, find huge turd on the floor which, I then learn, represents about one third of the total haul. Blecch!! Time for size 5 diapers!] ---- I told him, "Eat another bite of chicken, and I'll give you some more pear." We repeated this process until he'd cleaned up his chicken and some of his tomato, which he's also been fickle about lately.
Not sure how I feel about the whole bribery thing. My parents generally refused to indulge in that kind of pandering, thinking it bad for one's ethical development. No money for good grades or that kind of thing. OTOH, they did do the "eat your chicken if you want ice cream" routine, and I didn't turn out a picky eater. I did, however, turn out not really liking chicken all that much. Which, if that happened to Cameron, is fine by me. |
