I loved a lot of things about Eagle Eye.
That the robot was a combination of the voice of the serial-killing artificial intelligence Vikki from I, Robot and the single red eye design of Hal from 2001.
I loved Shia Leboeuf's facial hair. I LOVED that his character had a twin, that he played both, and I LOOOOOVED that it was a vital plot point.
I LOVED THAT THERE WAS NO ROMANCE STORYLINE. Even though the girls' ex-husband was a DICK. AND? Eric Christian Olsen is old enough to be playing a deadbeat dad XD
MICHAEL CHIKLIS AS THE SECRETARY OF DEFENCE? YES.
The tunnel chase with the visual reconnaissance aircraft, that it was a Die Hard 4 reference, that it was the same tunnel as in Die Hard, yet unlike Die Hard, it made sense.
I loved that the bomb was a necklace.
I LOVED when Jerry came in to his twin brother's funeral, that he had to reassure people that he wasn't his dead brother. AND HOW TEARY AD SAD HE WAS. AND THAT THAT SHOT OF HIM KNEELING IN FRONT OF THE COFFIN WAS THE BEST REVEAL EVER.
As much as I would have loved him pulling a Lindsey Lohan and playing both twins in the same scene? I'm kinda glad they didn't do that.
I kept waiting for Chris Evans to show up and play Michael Chiklis' punk kid friend at the Pentagon XD
I loved the location of that road in the middle of nowhere they used in Se7en as the place with No Cell Reception. I never got over that they had reception there in this movie... It's just such an iconic location. AND WHEN THEY SAID "DELIVERY"? WAS ANYONE ELSE EXPECTING A HEAD IN A BOX??
I just read a review where the writer was bitch bitch bitching about how this director is notorious for ripping off classic movies. It's not hard to see, Rear Window = Disturbia, and then this flick to 2001. But I dunno. I can forgive him. I could not forgive Live Free or Die Hard, I had to draw the line at NO Originality. But Eagle Eye snagged me. That LeBoeuf kid. He's a sensation.
I liked that I'm pretty sure I smelled a couple Transformers moments too. |
