Ugh, for some reason my television was on E! and there's a thing on right now called "Stars Without Makeup".
Basically, it's all these pictures of female celebrities "caught" without makeup, and bitchy people saying how bad they look and what makeup they should have put on at the very LEAST before they left the house. The most ridiculous thing was when they said that "Oprah just looks like a regular person when she's not wearing makeup!" IMAGINE THAT. It boggles my mind that people could be so shallow. And notice, they only pick on women. Like women don't look beautiful unless they are wearing makeup.
Personally, I usually only wear makeup on special occasions, or when I really feel like it for fun. I don't care what any of them say, and whether they're "pure minerals" and "noncomedogenic" or not - you are putting shit on your face, and it's blocking your pores. It perpetuates acne breakouts and blackheads. Mascara is NOT good for your eyelashes, either. It's possible it could make them thinner. I have noticed that the less I use mascara, the longer and thicker my eyelashes get. I don't think makeup in general is all that good for you. All personal ranting aside, I just find it ridiculous that women should have to perpetually wear makeup. It's okay if you really want to for your own reasons, but to have other people say you HAVE to because otherwise you look like shit is ridiculous. And wearing makeup all the time, even to exercise (like when many of these celebrities were "caught" without it) is pretty daft as well. Is it so bad to see a woman in her natural state? I guess in a world of constant dieting, push-up bras, "shapewear", and shaving/waxing/bleaching/dyeing/whatever, it's just one more piece of an elaborate facade. Are we all so hideous? I don't think so. |
