You know, I looked at the path the hurricane was supposed to take several days ago, and again on Thursday and Friday. Each time I came to the same conclusion ...for us here in Bryan/College Station ...its going to be a little wind and rain and nothing more. But everyone around me kept insisting it was going to be terrible. Some people headed north, others horded water and other goods and brought everything they owned inside.

This wasn't anywhere near as bad as Katrina/Rita and that still wasn't horrible ...not here in this town. For the record, yes I know both hurricanes were devastating for people in Galveston and Houston and other areas close to the coast. I get it, I really do. I watched the news. But people ...do you understand how far north we are, and how much of it always peters out before it gets here? It doesn't matter ..panic always ensues. Lines at the gas station and grocery stores grow 10 miles long and when its over ..it was all for nothing. Disturbing my normal weekly errands because the rest of the city panics and doesn't use common sense.

For Pete's sake, we had a thunder storm last month that was twice as bad as the weather we had during the last 24 hours from Ike. THIS IS NOT HOUSTON! THIS IS NOT GALVESTON! GET A GRIP!


Talk to me next year tornado season rolls around again, then we'll talk. But hurricanes? Go move to the gulf if you want to be taken serious with all the panic and hysteria.
