Random bits:

--In a sales presentation today, I was blown away when an audio publisher proceeded to call up a fanvid (!) on Youtube to promote a forthcoming book by an African hip hop star. Sadly, the reception to it was a little lackluster as the collective age in the room was probably...ahem...a tad "mature" to be appreciating fanvids or hip hop music. I thought that was pretty awesome though.

--LJ has seemed more dead than usual the past week (and I'm not talking about the stupid new undead banners). Where is everyone?

--Listening to the new Pink cd. The songs are still growing on me (I take a while to like songs generally) but it's still fantastic. It's a much more contemplative post-divorce cd than one might expect from So What?. I hope [info]dualbunny  makes a Starbuck vid to Sober to go along with her previous installments.

--I can't believe I actually watched the entire Obama political ad tonight. (I always vote, but I'm generally pretty anti-politics.) My standards are not particularly high for what I'm looking for in a US president (someone who can speak eloquently is about the minimum) but Obama seems quite genuine and down-to-earth. I'm diggin' him.

--Eli Stone last night. I'm really enjoying this show. It started so poorly last year and my attention was barely held (but I stuck with it for the musical numbers and Victor Garber and Loretta Devine) until the last 3 or 4 eps of the season and suddenly I just loved it. It's continuing to be really touching and fun this season and there's even more LawDaddy action and I'm really digging it. (I think it's quite rare for shows that start lackluster to be able to fix themselves but I think this one really has. For me anyway, and maybe that's because I don't care much for Natasha Henstridge's character. She seems so cold. I didn't like her as Eli's love interest and am glad the show moved away from that. I read a synopsis of last night's episode about Matt and Maggie getting a shocking surprise and thought for sure they were going to pair Eli and Taylor back up and I'm so glad they didn't go that route. The synopsis was actually misleading anyway. Matt wasn't even involved.)

--Pushing Daisies!! Stephen Root! LOTS OF EMERSON!! Like Ned's wacky new twin half bros too. Miss the aunts. This show is so wonderful and unique. I really can't believe it's in serious danger of being cancelled. That will make me very sad.

--Am jonesing for some new BSG news. Watched this Tahmoh video a few minutes ago and I'm so, so pleased by how often the cast members keep saying how utterly perfect the ending is and how happy and satisfied and fulfilled they are by it. I don't think it's just the party line and the fact that EVERY LAST ONE of them seems to be so thrilled with it makes me really happy. (Mary McDonnell is also rhapsodizing about the beauty of the writing and the show's resolution over at EW's Ausiello Report  (Ausiello is a SPOILER site--do not click if you don't want to be spoiled about lots of fandoms.) And even more antsy for January.

--And also on the Tahmoh front, I'm still really excited about Dollhouse despite the slightly crazy-man blog post by Joss Whedon about how troublesome it's been with the Fox execs. I hope it works out as my Tahmoh crush grows and grows and I can't wait to have Eliza back on my TV.

-- [info]cattm has a fabulously sexy Lee/Kara fic posted on her blog in three parts, which I highly recommend. English is not her first language and she's rather shy about sharing it, but it's got incredible tension and is very hot and just generally not to be missed.

--Ooh. Just read some movie news (at Ausiello) about a forthcoming flick called Leaves of Grass that has Edward Norton playing twins (an Ivy League Professor and a doper) and Keri Russell will play one twin's love interest.  Love Ed Norton (even if his choice of films lately have been...regrettable) and double him is fantastic.

--Heroes. Oh, Heroes. You used to be so beautiful. Now you're a beautiful disaster. Basically now I'm just waiting for you to let Kristin Bell go so she can go find herself a better show/movie to be on.

--Katee Sackhoff, my love for you knows no bounds. Yes I sat through--ok fast-forwarded through--Halloween just to get my cute fix. You are much cuter now though minus the 12 pounds of makeup. And I'm glad you're going to be on Law and Order, even if that's not my show. I hope your episode airs before January.

--Concert this weekend! Huzzah. Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire. Should be a great show. Two very talented ladies.

--A new Kevin Smith movie this weekend too! Must attempt to squeeze that in.
