You know what would be awesome? If they made a Jem movie. But, at the same time, they would probably modernize it and ruin it. I mean, I can understand that they might have to modernize parts of it and all, but... I just look at Alvin and the Chipmunks and I fear for it.
Also, I still want a Peanuts movie. But I have the same fears. >_< Will my dream ever come true...? And how would they handle Snoopy? And Woodstock? And Pigpen's dirt? And Schroeder's music notes? There is just so much to consider. Maybe it's impossible. Maybe it is not meant to be.
Also, I got the sudden urge to learn Portuguese. I think it's cause of this Brazilian telenovela called Chocolate con Pimienta I started watching today. I'm not sure if I like it yet, but it had some funny parts. I'm also watching this other one called Pasión on Univisión. It's by Carla Estrada, aka the producer of Alborada, which is one of my favorite telenovelas of all time, so... Plus, the fabulous Fernando Colunga is in it. ^_^; And Mariana Karr. I could never not give a try to something with Mariana Karr in it. So let's see if- HOLY CRAP I'M MISSING IT RIGHT NOW UGH!! ...I missed the first half hour. But... It's ok. They repeat it at 11 PM, I think.
...Is it gross that I actually find the horrible, cruel old man in this show almost endearing? It is ridiculous. He's this rich old man who bought the main girl and is forcing her to marry him so he can have a son (he only has one daughter who is blind, and her never-got-married aunt takes care of her, and these two women seem to be the bad guys). Anyway, he's horrible to his daughter and sister, and he is just a cranky old man so far...but I still like him. I think it's because the people he is mainly mean to are the bad guys. But he's still horrible, from what I've seen. But then, what I've seen isn't a lot. So we'll see. See what hasn't been seen.
I confused myself. Anyway, the story takes place in colonial times Mexico and seems to be about this old man and his sister who took their older brothers money from their nephew and then the old man gives his money to the main girl, who will undoubtedly fall in love with that nephew and in the end they will end up happy and with all the money. Also, the old man's blind daughter (so the nephew's cousin) is in love with the nephew somehow. Also, the nephew is a pirate now, for some reason. Also, the nephew is Fernando Colunga.
Ok, I admit, I'm not too wild about his pirate hair, but he's a PIRATE. He can't look great ALL the time. That would simply be too much.
Also, Sebastián Rulli is in this one. For some reason, he is just too...buff for me, I guess. But he IS pretty. And loved by many. I haven't liked a single one of his telenovelas before, but maybe Carla Estrada and Mariana Karr and Fernando Colunga will help him out.
Whoa. WHY am I liking this horrible old man so much!? The girl is like "I SWEAR I won't run away! Just let me go outside!" and he's like "I don't believe in promises. You'll go out the day of my funeral," and she's like "I HOPE YOU DIE TONIGHT!" and he's like "HAHAHAHA!" like it was truly a great joke and it was...kind of great.
My pet peeve about telenovelas, though: most of them seem to have really slow opening songs. That annoys me, for some reason.
Today's Songs: 1. "Glitter and Gold" by Jem & the Holograms 2. "Y Tú Que Ni Te Fijas" by Menudo (starring my crush from 1991-1997... This video is SO 90s. AHAHAHA!) |
