I met the big boy St. Bernard we're considering taking off the hands of a lady mom works with. He wasn't taller than Maddie or Sasha but he sure was thicker-- he barked and growled once at Sasha, but I want to say he was playing. Unfortunately it was hard to tell because as soon as he barked, the lady pulled him back. Apparently next Thursday he's going to come HERE to meet our girls on their turf, see what he thinks. We obviously can't take him if he doesn't get along with the two queens of the household. Funniest thing though, is that while Maddie and Sasha bear a passing resemblance to Cujo, this boy looks exactly like him... right down to the skinned nose (For those of you who aren't aware of the story, Cujo got rabies by being bitten on the nose by a bat). So A+ for faithfulness to the novel, hahaha. His name is Gunner and he is a beautiful boy. I hope he does get along with the girls because it would be so cool to have a big hulking boy Saint around the house.
Speaking of the girls, Sasha had an operation on her ear-- big hematoma on the ear. She had it drained and stitched back up. She had the big plastic cone mangled and off by the time she was in the vets office parking lot. The gauze her ear was wrapped around was pulled out by the next day, and now all there is is the tape all wrapped around the wound. So, when we took Maddie in for her checkup, we brought Sash as well to get some more gauze. Vet said don't bother as long as the tape's still on. Just don't want her getting at those stitches. Yeesh would that be a disaster. Both girls did well at the vets though, and they're always a hit with the other dogs in the waiting room-- ok not always. After all, they are very intimidatingly sized.
In other news, I finally think I have someone who'll buy my Blackberry? I'm knocking on wood-- let's hope it goes through because I could definitely use an extra 150 bucks. I'm going to meet them at RIC where the sketch factor of inviting a stranger over to my house is eliminated. Big public place= very good. Monday at noon. He better be there because the last person I was supposed to sell it to never showed up and only told me 10 minutes beforehand that she wasn't.
Halloween tomorrow. No parties so I can't dress up. It's sad. I wonder if anyone will even bother with our house this year-- they don't usually. |
