So I was reading Jane Eyre again and it suddanly occured to me, and i seemed rather obvious, that Edward Rochester is in fact, increadibly similar to Edward Cullen. To a raher frightening extent. Well if you ignore the Vampire thing ;)

This is Jane and Eddie's first meeting in the BBC adaptation:



It, like the EB scene in twilight, is dark and frightening. He intimdates her.

Hes a dark, brooding character, with a huge secret. Well in his case its a lunatic wife in the attaic, not a prefrence for human blood. But still, hes enigmatic yet charasmaic.His moods shift quickly and suddanly. The entire time he is struggling with his love for Jane and his dark past. He wants to do right but feels he love s her too intensly to give her up. *looks* They're like the same freaking person. They have the same freaking name!

Sigh. I love them both.

I could liken Jacob to St John but im not gonna because whilst they are both all kinds of annoying and get rejected, thats about as close as the similarities go.

I know SM said she was influanced by Pride and Prejudice in Twilight. But i've never seen the comparision. Im thinking Jane Eyre is a much more similar book. Both Bella and JAne have the whole "ooooh i feel unworthy" hing going on (lol. bella, you were right) and the dark, sulky mood, and oddly prophetic dream sequances.

*looks around again* Like i can't even explain i accretly if you've never read Jane Eyre (and if you haven't what he **** is wrong with you?) but if you have you'll understand.

This may explain why i like twilight the best ou of the series, it reads more like classic fiction then just a bit of lame ass tween crap that the others turned into :)
