I have to admit, that I was intrigued and vaguely excited about seeing this movie. The actress who plays Nim is fairly good for a child actor, as is obvious from anyone who watched "Little Miss Sunshine," even if you were one of the minority, like me, who didn't enjoy it. The premise was interesting enough that I thought it could hold both a child and an adult's attention. Sadly, however, I was mistaken.

This is very much a kid's movie, and to even vaguely enjoy it, you have to be a kid at heart. I enjoyed it to a certain extent, but my fiance oftentimes left the room in frustration, only to come back when I called him. It is, indeed, frustrating to watch, because you can tell that, had it been done right, it had the premise to be a very interesting movie.

The only truly enjoyable part of it is Jodi Foster's performance, which is so outside her usual that you're not sure if she can pull it off, but she does and with gusto, obviously enjoying herself. However, even she can't save the rather flat characters and the storyline, and the horrendously cliched ending.

Conclusion: Jodi Foster's performance is very good, but I'm not sure it's worth sitting through the movie to see.
