Its a nice getting together j2 fic. You get to see their tight bond without it being forced in your face. Chad makes a small appearance and for once isn't a total douche. He's, shockingly, subtle. Nice, solid, enjoyable.

The author says its set after 4.6, but isn't a coda. And its not. For such a short thing this fic packs a lot of power. There are so many things about it that just touched me right there just right. One person left a comment saying something about wanting to turn this fic into a blanket and burrow down in it. It totally agree. Its this like this that I can't really explain it, but this line really got to me:
"Thanks," and it's just an ordinary moment, but Dean feels freer than he has since he was twenty, when his family was still intact and the open road hadn't found a way to break his heart.

It just...man, I don't know. But when I read that it was like a gut punch. Wow. Or maybe more like something needing firm and solid across my spine, warm and intense. It ended perfectly. Yet, of course, because it was so good I wish there was more. So I could burrow down deeper for a bit longer.
