Not talking about history, though that might come in handy sometimes- yes, a GIANT pink rubber eraser to clean up mistakes and wipe away messes. It would be like, Bounty! Or...those Clorox disinfecting wipes.
But anyways...
/>I realized that I no longer needed a Yahoo! account, since I rarely used it. And I realized that my freewebs site, designed to help people with studying notes (i.e. history and such) wasn't helping anyone. ): So I decided to delete them.
And then I thought, "Why shouldn't I do these with my blogs?"
But then I realized I couldn't. Not to Xanga, my first (and someone abandoned) journal, then livejournal, and then blogspot. Not to DeviantArt, where I can connect with my friends and share something that we both love- art and writing. And certainly not to mediaminer, where I used to upload fanfics and short stories.
Maybe it's the memories I have with them. It sounds silly, being attached to something digital and virtual and not even tangible. But still. It's like having a diary, for every period of your life (or when you get bored with the journal itself).
/>Speaking of which, my younger sister read through my old diaries, starting from 4th grade, and I didn't mind at all. We read them together and laughed and giggled over my antics, my memories, my frustrations and anger, and my view of myself and my life.
I immediately felt closer to my sister (and to my younger self).
Clicking back on the xanga site to my first entry, it read as childish, immature, and so thoughtless. Yet, when I continued reading, I noticed that it developed into something different. Thoughts, worries, and rants poured out easily onto the post, reminding me of difficult times with school, friendships, and more. It was just like my diaries, minus the cute writing with "circles instead of dots on my I's".
For now, I'll keep them. |
