Gee, I thought I got enough sleep last night - nope, I totally crashed out and slept all day. It's 4 PM and I just woke up. I've learned when I do that to just not argue with my body and go with the flow. Let's see if I can sleep tonight, though, ha ha!
In other news, I finally tried out my new PS2 games last night. The Dragonball Z fighter is AWESOME! Except that it has the problem that all fighters have - you have to memorize all of the controls and moves, which I SUCK at. I totally have to actually study to play that game. Bleh. BUT - once I learned a few moves I had a blast playing the game. It's really well designed and intuitive, and by god button-mashing does NOT get you through with any success. Raditz kept totally kicking my ass. Well, I am sure that I will pick up a few more moves from the tutorial next time I play and I'll get better. Poking around the rest of the modes it looks pretty neat - training mode is fun, although I don't really know how it affects the rest of the game yet. My one surprise - duuuuuh, it's using the English voice actors. Why I was surprised I have no idea - it's an American game, made by the American division of Atari, and did not come from Japan, so naievely expecting the Japanese voice acting was pretty dumb. HOWEVER - I first saw this anime with the dub, and I can totally deal with it. Just so long as they don't get their crappy dub all over the actual anime, heh heh! In the fighting game it's actually pretty cute, and I really don't mind at all. Take note, all of you who know what a total bitchy snob I am about watching everything in the original language. The dub-hater is tolerant! Heh!
Then I put in Hulk - Ultimate Destruciton. MAN, that game has the potential to be AMAZING. I only did the tutorial, but it was TOTALLY fun. You can climb walls. You can run up walls. You can jump really high. You toss people around like cord wood. You can pick up ANYTHING and throw it at ANYTHING. The environment is almost completely destructible, so you can just go on a rampage and break everything. Hence the title, Ultimate Destruction. You can even pick up a car, break it in half, and use the two halves as "iron gauntlets". Awesome!!! The little voiceovers are fun, and it is very cathartic to run around the army base breaking everything in sight while growling menacingly. Awesome. We'll see how the gameplay is the next time I put it in. Don't know when that will be - I really would like to work on my dalek one of these days, and I have lots of work to do, and need to catch up on my anime. Well, I'm sure I'll find time, especially if I'm brain dead. I want to finish Okami, too, because that game is incredible. You can't be brain dead when you play it, though.
Hmmm, maybe I should eat some lunch... and go to Borders for their crazy sale. Yay! |
