Friday was a good day, I ended up working from home all day and that's always a nice change. [info]aydub went to the doctor and got a list of everything she's allergic to, including dust, dust mites, and mold. So the theme of this weekend was reducing those things in our house.

Friday afternoon started with a trip to Walmart, where we both got new pillows, hypoallergenic covers for each pillow and a zip-up cover for the mattress. Over the weekend I washed all the linens in the bedroom, from the dog beds to the curtains, in hot water to clean and kill dust mites.

Friday night was devoted to geekier interests. I started investigating how I could install a custom firmware on my old-school first generation PlayStation Portable. Just like last time I tried, I figured out that I had upgraded too far and that my PSP couldn't be downgraded unless I had some special hardware. I looked into it and getting a Pandora Battery wasn't too difficult or expensive... unless I wanted it shipped anywhere other than Hong Kong. That takes weeks, at best. After some looking though, I found a tool to turn my existing battery into what I needed for only $20, and shipped from the US. I also went ahead and got a 4GB memory stick from Newegg for $30. Hopefully I'll get those this week and can get my PSP working with homebrew apps just as well as both DSes and my Wii.

Saturday was when I really started cleaning. I picked up all the clutter from the bedroom floor and cleaned the floors in there for the first time since we sealed that room off from the cats. I got rid of anything that didn't need to be there and re-arranged some furniture so the air purifier is closer to Amanda. I also set the dogs up with one big bed, instead of two medium sized ones that took up a bunch of space. The results were impressive, and It's something that I've wanted to do for a while, so I was happy to get it accomplished.

Amanda called me on the way home from the clinic and reported that Argus has heartworms, but that since he's feeling well (as far as we know) he should still be in the early stages of it and will likely survive treatment. So treatment starts this week.

Sometime in the middle of Saturday's linen-washing extravaganza I got fed up with the fluorescent light in the laundry room, which quit working soon after we moved in (and installed a new bulb).

Determined to get it working, I got it down from the ceiling, went to Home Depot to get its replacement, installed it with little effort, and went back to Home Depot to get a new bulb (the last one was almost dead). Twenty dollars and an hour or so later we had a working light.

Amanda and I finished off the night watching Iron Man and drinking frozen margaritas, which was cool.
/>The next morning I woke up late, and Amanda made me these awesome buttermilk oatmeal pancakes. I saw the mix last time we went to Kroger and bought them on a whim, much to Amanda's surprise. If you know me at all I shouldn't have to explain why.

I finished up washing bedroom linens and getting things put away, and then spent some time cleaning and vacuuming the bar. The dogs use the carpet in the bar as a central repository for things they have chewed up or plan on chewing up soon. So I got all that cleaned up better than it has been in a while.

After that, Amanda, Penny, Argus and I all went to my parents house for dinner, as per usual. Argus and Penny really like running around in my parents backyard, running back and fourth and playing in the grass. We finally brought them inside and soon noticed that Argus had filed one of his nails down to the quick, and was leaving red pawprints everywhere. Amanda got the bleeding to stop and we took everyone home.

The rest of the night was spent folding clothes and watching new Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad.
