It's been one of those days. I had a day off between returning from Atlanta on Monday and returning to work today.
First there was the act of forcing myself to crawl out of bed because I have not had to rise to the sound of an alarm.
Then there was realizing that I was returning on MY day to do the Story Times at the Branch, and naturally between last Thursday and today, I'd not had time to prepare. I thought I was going to have to scramble around, but the boss was kind enough to realize I would have a problem, and so she selected some books and found a possible "craft" for us to do.
It was fun. We had a passel of babies for the Baby Bookworm session, and an equal passel of kids for the regular session.
But then, there was a rush to discuss business, a slow down on the part of the computer that put the boss behind in getting stuff from the delivery sorted, and to add to that, I had to take lunch, then she had to take lunch, and then we had 30 minutes to brainstorm before I had to hop in the truck and head for a meeting at another branch. Meeting took nearly two hours, and then I had to scramble back to the branch to pick up the boss (since I am her taxi these days) and rush over to Puleos for a meeting of a different sort.
We wanted to discuss childrens programming with some coworkers from another branch.
It was a productive meeting, I must say, but we didn't leave until 8:30, and then it was after 9:00 before I got home, and then there was the customary check the email, trade emails with the sister in Louisiana about a picture she was supposed to have included in the bag for Mom--which was not there, though there were a LOT of Cheerios.
So now we suspect the niece who was supposed to deliver the bag may have removed the picture because apparently, she put some of her own stuff into the bag to carry it back before giving the bag to my mother, and in the process, one of her twins spilled cereal into the bag, and she pulled stuff out to clean the cereal out (she clearly missed a large number of them).
And as a result, the picture has vanished...
Hopefully, it will turn up soon.
Meanwhile, I did manage a spot of writing on my lunch break. I have met all my deadlines (and the short story for one of them goes in the mail Friday) so I was free to follow whomever among my characters spoke first, and I seriously thought it would be Anwyn, but no, it was Rhys who gave the siren call (can a male character give a siren call since technically, the sirens were women--something to ponder), and I answered and plopped more words on Indigo Nights and thought I was about to finish the tale when Rhys tossed a monkey wrench into the works...
Oh, you would, was all I could think. Pretend to be the calm fellow who just wants to be left alone with his herb trade and his patients...then go and get yourself knocked silly and Indigo stolen...
Because it means Rhys is about to go on an adventure...
*sigh*
Must do a sketch of Rhys now that he is becoming more of a presence than I originally anticipated when I created him...
It might amuse me... |
