I'm gonna do an icon post in like 5 minutes. I hadn't realised I'm made so many icons recently, I thought this was going to be a small post until I started uploading them all. I guess it's because I've been so insanely bored over the last couple of days, although to be honest I'm surprised I haven't felt like this before considering this is the longest break I'll probably ever have. I've been off for over 2 months and have absolutely no work to do. This has resulted in an addiction to morning showings of Gilmore Girls & One Tree Hill and me buying more dvds in the last month than I did in the whole of 2007. I've watched so many films!

Mamma Mia
Saw it twice and LOVED it equally both times. Oh Meryl Streep is so much <3 in her dungarees singing Dancing Queen. I also really didn't expect to like it very much, which is probably why it had so much of an effect on me. Sometimes it's great to see a film that just makes you feel genuinely happy. I even like Pierce Brosnan a little more now (although please please don't ever do a musical again Pierce unless it's a non-singing part.)

The Dark Knight
I didn't love it and I know that puts me in the minority. I think the problem is that this film was so over-hyped that it was always going to be a let down and the fact that I'm not a big fan of comic book films probably didn't help either. And what is up with Christian Bale's batman voice? Seriously, the fact that every time Batman was actually talking I was supressing the urge to laugh probably ruined it for me. However I think Heath Ledger was incredible and I loved Maggie Gyllenhaal. Seeing as they were the two main reasons I even went to see the film that's not that suprising I suppose.

Step Brothers
Okay so that was awful. Admittedly it's not my kind of thing I just went to spend some time with my friends who wanted to go. Even they didn't like it.

Fur
I kind of loved this film. Okay so I'll admit I only bought it because I love Nicole and Robert Downey Jr is hot and it was £3. Also it was by the guy who made Secretary and I was totally intrigued by the trailer when I saw it because it looked so beautifully filmed. It was. The visual aspect of the film was the most amazing part for me, every single scene was so stunning I just wanted to pause it and look at for ages. Nicole was fabulous and beautiful (but when isn't she?) and Robert was gorgeous (after he'd shaved all of that fur off).

Once
Awww this film made me so sad. I mean I don't think it was meant to make you sad, it was supposed to be full of hope, I just think I'm soppy and too romantic. If you've seen the end you'll know what I mean but I won't give it away. I love the music and I love the leads. How funny is it that people think this is a documentary, apparently Marketa gets people coming up to her asking "how's your kid?" Oh and the fact that they're together in real life just makes it so much cuter.

Adaptation
I went on a Charlie Kauffman high and, having only seen Eternal Sunshine and it being one of my favourite films, seeked out Adaptation and Being John Malkovich. Adaptation was weird. I mean I liked it but there were parts when I was literally watching like "what the hell is going on?" Meryl Streep was the best thing about it but that's not a surprise. The surprise was that I think it made me like Nicholas Cage... I think :S

Being John Malkovich
I think this is my favourite of the films I've watched recently. This was more the Charlie Kauffman I know and love. Part of the reason I love Eternal Sunshine for it's originality and this shared that and OMG it was so funny. From the moment the guy gets to his new job on the 7 1/2 floor with the ridiculously low ceilings and everyone walking around bent over it just completely had me in stitches. I mean seeing Cameron Diaz with an afro locked in a cage with a chimp by her own husband, you really start to question whether it's morally right to be so amused by this. I never thought much of John Cusack either, having only really seen him in awful rom-coms like Serendipity but he's actually quite good. I'm not exactly Cameron Diaz's biggest fan, I think she's okay, but I seem to watch loads of her films and she was totally endearing in this - maybe it was the awful afro. Catherine Keener is great as well. The whole thing is so brilliant, seriously watch it!

Harry Potter & The Order Of The Phoenix
I saw this at the cinema and it was the first Harry Potter film I thought was more than alright. I had such an urge to watch it when my friend was talking about it the other day and we were discussing the immenseness of Helena Bonham Carter in this film, so I bought it. Although she's only on screen for a total of less than 5 minutes in the whole film they are officially the most awesome 5 minutes. I just cannot get over how much she is exactly like I imagined Bellatrix. She is actually perfect and increased my excitement for the next 3 films by like 100 times. I also love these films just for the brilliance of Alan Rickman (who again I swear he is like the Snape right out of my imagination) and Emma Thompson.

In Her Shoes
Again Cameron Diaz, I own so many of her films you'd think I was a massive obsessive of hers or something. Truth is she's just always in things with other actors/actresses I like more than her. I like this film and as far as chick-flicks go it's pretty good. I also really adore Toni Collette, the woman can do no wrong in my book.

Angels In America
(I'm only half way through this at the moment).
I heard this was meant to be amazing and it's got Meryl Streep & Emma Thompson in so I figured it must be true. I've ended up loving Mary-Louise Parker & Justin Kirk a lot in this, I've never seen them in anything before but they are really great. Actually the whole cast are wonderful and I really love this film so far. It's hard to watch at time but I was warned that it's so depressing it might drive me to the verge of suicide so I've been prepared. Some things have to be depressing though to have meaning and to depict real life truthfully. All I can think of when I watch this is that I can't believe someone wrote this as a play. I mean the fact that it came out of someone's head is amazing to me, I just think it's incredible and it makes me very jealous. :)
