We had our first real frost of the "winter" this morning. Not too hard but enough to leave the grass white and the cars needing a light scraping although it did melt very quickly when the sun hit it.
Chloe and I went for a shortish run, just a couple of miles because its not really fun running in the dark (Sunrise is just before 7am now) We got all kitted up and put on our fluorescent bands to make sure we were visible to early morning traffic and headed out.
The run was fine right until the end when I came round the corner into our road and found that the wet on the pavement wasn't actually wet but was ice and I went sliding and wrenched my ankle. The same damned ankle that got damaged when I was attacked by a dog.
So its all strapped up and I'm taking it easy, well as easy as a slave can take it. I learned something this morning... cats think bandages are toys. There I was with Chloe trying to bind me up and there was Fluff attacking the bandage and Chloe's fingers in the process. Luckily Naomi came in and acted as a distraction or I think we'd never have got it done.
Its odd being here. Eleanor and Annette are away so there is just the 5 of us and Tom and Fluff and it feels odd getting up and coming down for a run and not going with Annette, not seeing her at meal times, not serving alongside her, not seeing her in the office where I'm still working part time at the moment. I'm not sure when I'm going back full time, but I'm hoping it might be before Christmas if my doctor is happy. I'm still finding work hard but I think some of it is getting easier. |
