Do you ever have the same dream landscape that seems to occur every few months? One that's more the sense of a place rather than the physical particulars? I had extremely clear vision as a child and was able to discern individual leaves on trees, occasionally see the birds flitting from branch to branch in said trees, and even the hypnotic prism cast by diamonds in sunlight. When I dream, my sight is clearer than it is now, though not as crisp as it once was. I can't see details from a distance, but I am able to notice writing and know what it says. Once, I recalled hearing that it's impossible to read in your dreams because that part of your brain is dormant. Whether this is true remains to be researched, but is definitely fascinating.
Anyway, there is an old house in my dreams. I know every twist and turn, every incongruous room and it's relation to the rest of the house. I know parts that I avoid out of a deep sense of...well... fear and lingering unpleasantness. I know the rickety old weather-worn deck that leans dangerously out over a cold sea with crashing waves over craggy rocks. Waves brushed with white foam that give off an unnatural icy chill as they reflect the distant warmth of the sun. I know secrets buried in the walls of this house and the odd mix of beautiful, bright, and modern that distracts from ancient, decaying, and unsettling.
The bitch of this is that I don't know precisely what this house means to me. So since I've been reading more about past lives, lucid dreaming, and the symbolism of dreams in the scant amount of info I can find, I expected to discover a good technique to learn more about one's past life, and then apply it to these dreams I have.
I've been prowling the net in search of a technique that could possibly get things started when I wandered to a Llewellyn page. Finally! A site that is bound to have some valuable info to help me out! I can get lost for long stretches on Llewellyn's pages. There was even an article with a link specifically for this purpose. It's

Damn it!!!!!
The frustrating search will be continued once I've finished writing a piece due next week. But is this such a difficult topic to research? *facepalm* I can accomplish pretty detailed visualizations during meditations, but I think this one takes the cake. Cake with lovely decorations, I'm sure, but that I can't fucking appreciate. Grrrr.....
Look out, MS Word. Here I come... |
