So I found out there's a train station only minutes from where I live. AND it's operated by New Jersey Transit! Looking at the fares, it seems much cheaper than Metro North, even though Metro North is more reliable with more tracks, but costs more money per ticket than New Jersey Transit. The train station near me, however is a single track. But there's free parking on the weekends so that's a plus. Checking it out, I could technically get to any place on the Main and Bergen line in Rockland County within a half hour. If I were to go to the city, I'd get off at Penn Station instead of Grand Central. I could even go to New Jersey!
Which takes me to another point, ever since I found this out, I've been playing around with Google Maps relentlessly. Just to know I can take a train on my side of the river for cheaper, really freed me. However sporadic the timing of railway system may be. Only wish I had a car (and a license) so I could get to the train station.
Which leads me to what's made me feel even freer. I've pretty much given up looking for a job at this juncture and instead I've been looking for volunteer opportunities, another reason why I've been playing with Google Maps so much lately. I could volunteer in the city, near me, or even in NJ! I've been finding some good ones, too which makes volunteer hunting even funner than looking for an actual job. With a job, there's always a threat you'll get fired or they won't hire you at all because you don't have any interviewing or actual experience in the job you're going for. Volunteering, there's no real pressure to come back. I'm doing this so I can jump back in and get some experience, confidence, and socialize again because after months of doing NOTHING, this is the least I could do for myself.
Oh and even more awesome news, I bought a ticket to see WKUK live at the 92nd Street Y Tribeca location on November 19th. I'm just gonna go by myself this time. Coordinating schedules when you don't drive yourself is a pain in the ass. However, nerve racking because I'll be the city by myself for the first time, EVER!
Oh and I have a crush on Jordan Cooper right now. Just scanning his black and white cookie blog I found that I pretty much have the same TV as him, except that in the upper right hand corner of the TV in our living room, the word "SDTV" appears. His appears to be flattened on top a little more than ours, too, but it's pretty much the same TV. so of course I'm crushing on him majorly. Plus I think we were at the same KITH show in April in adjacent sections. I think I saw him talking to Tavie. Plus he's only 2 and a half years older than me AND single so of course I'm crushing on him. Yes I will stop gushing now *crush crush crush*.
