I actually have a little bit of both good and bad news today. How about a list format?
GOOD NEWS:
-Slept in today for the first time in a long while. I actually woke up a bit sick, but it might have been my body finally catching up and saying "hey, while you're resting, can I rest, too?"
-I'm dropping by Kevin's later (only for an hour or so) to wish him a happy birthday later. His parties are usually epic teenage overnights where there's no sleep involved, so a visit of a mere hour might be better for my system than it usually is.
-My friend Andy Seifert (closest neighbor I know, and have known since day one) got his wisdom teeth pulled today. He called me on the phone (didn't sound that bad), and then sent me a hilarious picture message of him with a cloth around his face, smiling, also flashing a "thumbs up." That's great news. To quote his last message, "getting put to sleep is fun."
-Tara (older sister) is inviting her new boyfriend over to dinner tonight. Nobody in the family has met him, but we're all looking forward to it. Apparently, he's a very likable guy. I'm not going to interrogate him (yet), but I will be trying to see what he's like. Tara tends to have good judgment, so he's probably a great guy.
BAD NEWS:
-Joe's iPod was stolen from his truck last night at a friend's house. I kinda saw this coming, because Joe drives a Jeep. All it takes to break into a Jeep is an opposable thumb and the intelligence to undo a zipper. I had talked to him in the past about not getting a special lock or something to prevent this, but he didn't listen.
"Then they'd just break in my windows, and I don't want that," he'd reply.
If they want something that badly, nothing will stop them. So, here he is without an iPod. We can't file an official report because he doesn't have the iPod receipt/registration, which was also unwise to have thrown out. Hopefully he learns from this, but if not, it's his plate to eat.
-Our house's refrigerator has been slowly dying. We've put anything we plan on using in the garage fridge, but anything else has been left in this now-warm box in my kitchen. That means the kitchen smells like bad eggs, sour butter, and assy ketchup. Good thing I only plan on eating pasta/Gatorade over the next few days.
-The more excited I get about college, the more my cat wants me to pet/love it. Can you find a more heart-wrenching form of a guilt trip? What's Fluff gonna do when I'm in Bloomington? Just scratch at my closed door, waiting for me to let him in?
