like i said in my previous post, i saw house bunny the movie today. like the above title says, it radiated idiocy but the overall cuteness and hilarity won me over.
so basically this movie is about a playboy bunny called shelley who turns 27 and lives in the playboy mansion with alot of other playboy bunnies and hugh hefner (who actually *did* appear in the movie as, obviously, himself).
so shelley gets a letter saying she's 'too old' to be a playboy bunny and is kicked out of the mansion. she has to find a place because she has to live on her own, while searching with a beat up/old car. after a horrible turn of events (having to live in her car with only the possesions she brought from the mansion) she stumbles onto the lawn of a college sorority called phi iota miu where rich, snooty bimbo girls live. shelley is rejected for being under the standards, one being that she's not in college obviously.
she then finds herself on the lawn of a second sorority house, this time called zeta alpha zata (referred to the 'zetas' throughout the movie) with misfit girls living in it. like a pregnant hippie-ish girl, a girl in a full body metal brace, a short girl, a general nerd/geek, a goth/punk/rebel/whatever-you-call-her-style, a shy silent girl (who talks during the end of the movie for reasons explained later) and a manly looking girl who shouldn't be in college in the first place. their names i can't remember off the top of my head. yeah i'm sad, i can barely remember names in a movie, but that's beside the point. the misfit zetas are about to loose their house if they don't get thirty pledges so they can keep the house.
shelley helps the misfit girls become popular and sexy, winning the hearts of a majority of the people (including the guys) on campus, pissing off the alpha iota miu sorority house. by becoming popular and sexy, the misfits get their thirty pledges. but as the other girls are judging the people who pledge by apperance, a shallow act, the silent girl speaks up and explains angrily that they lost their individuality and were becoming like the arrogant, artificial, shallow iotas. the now popular ex-misfits become their individual selves but keep some of shelley's style as a homage to her and pick out the thirty pledges fairly. as silent girl mails them off, she is distracted by a guy who is really ashley's, the antagonist, boyfriend and part of a plan to rid the unnamed college of the zetas.
shelley gets a call from hugh hefner, and almost fulfills her dreams of becoming a centerfold when she decides to go back as she likes the zeta girls too much to stay away from them. the zetas find shelley, only for shelley to learn that the zetas didn't send in the pledges, loosing the house. but a last second inspiring speech, although not super serious, wins over 29 pledgers. (this is where pregnant girl shows up with her newborn baby.) the last pledger is an iota, suprisingly.
the misfits learn that being good looking doesn't necissarily mean that you will get a boyfriend. individuality and personality are good things.
nerd/geek girl, natalie (who's name I just remembered) wins over her longtime crush colby by being herself. metal brace girl, whose name i still can't recall, has her brace loosened by shelley and finally gains self confidence to tell her runner crush she likes him . shelley wins the heart of oliver a cute guy she meets at the college after two bad dates (one where she makes all the mistakes by using the "tricks" to win over a guy. the second time she tries to be smart but fails. she learns to be herself and wins him over)
yeah, that was long. HAHA. but movie reviews can be long!
so my overall grade is a B+. it would have been higher but i normally don't really like movies that radiate idiocy. but it was cute, funny and entertaining so the idiocy is cancelled out. |
