I am seriously all by myself this holiday. Perhaps I will go visit Tom and Maya if they are not also on holiday.
Ryan is on a short missions trip to Egypt with about 10 others from our bible study. Jeremy will be off to a family reunion in Pennsylvania. Mom, Dad and Matt are all off on a short vacation down south. I have the house to myself and a bunch of people I tend to celebrate the 4th with are away this year. I will have to go hunting down some friends I guess.
In other news, you may not have seen me online the last couple days because of my computer. Well, my server. My server is the barrier to my Internet because Windows computers are safer behind a Linux beast of a machine. I ran out of disk space (had about 6gb free) so I took the plunge and got two 1TB (1000GB) drives and will mirror them as a redundant backup of astronomical proportions. I put them in and was ready to upgrade the software and part way through the night the server stopped responding and is now all messed up. So I'm copying about 200gb of stuff onto the new drives temporarily and reinstalling Linux for the first time in 3 (?) years.
At the moment I have my Internet hooked directly to my Windows computer which I really don't like to do because I know I'm going to get viruses if I don't get off quickly. So until my server is back up and running, which will probably be tomorrow night, I have no safe passage and all my data and my routine is all mixed up. Imagine. Me using a computer without any Internet. I sit here thinking, "Hmm, what can I do? My finances are all in place, so no use doing that. Computer games all require Internet except the generic ones. I'll work on some music. But that crashed my computer. I'll just rewire the Internet, blog about it, unwire things and go to bed after listening to some music." |
