There has been so much going on, I hardly know where to start!

First, I have a new title for my book: When the Whistle Blows. While I love it, I am finding it difficult not to call it by its old name (How To Stop a Moving Train). Now when people ask me my book's title, I just sort of stare at them blankly. And they think I made the whole being published thing up. Hopefully, by the time it finally comes out I'll have memorized it!

And that oh-so-slyly leads me to my second point: My book is coming out two months EARLIER than I originally thought it would! That means June, 2009. Specifically, June 11, 2009, but who's counting?! Um, me.

And that closely relates to my third point, which is that my book is now available on Amazon for pre-sale!! I just can't believe it. Go ahead, look at the link: http://www.amazon.ca/When-Whistle-Blows-Fran-Slayton/dp/0399251898. Two funny things about this -- first, I learned it was on Amazon from a friend, not my publisher. Shock would be the word to describe my reaction! Second, when it first went up for pre-sale it was discounted from $16.99 to $11.00. Pretty big discount, don't you think? Well, then my folks got on the horn and told everyone they know it's available, so some people ordered it. And do you know what happened? The price went UP! To $14.52, to be precise. You gotta love that supply and demand thang. And then I guess someone else must have ordered it and the price went up AGAIN - to $15.10. So I guess by the time the thing is actually published it's probably going to cost upwards of $100,000.00 per copy. So, um, you should probably go ahead and order it today.

Okay, that does not lead my to my fourth point, but here it comes anyway: I have new cover art! You probably saw it here on my journal, so maybe this is not news to you, but hey, I'm excited!

Let's not dawdle and head straight into my fifth point: I am re-doing my website now that I have a new title and cover. I'm very excited about it because it even links to this blog! I did it myself and I'm nobody's technowizard so tonight I am feeling like some kind of genius! If it works, that is. I'm hoping it will go live at the end of this week or beginning of next week. I am really excited because of what my sixth point is, which is that I have some BLURBS to share with you on my website when it goes up. I am really, really, really excited because these blurbs are from some amazingly cool people - okay, I'll just tell you who they are because I'm about to pop with it: Richard Peck, Ellen Hopkins, Betsy Bird, Prof. Barbara Kiefer and Prof. Joel Taxel. Excuse me, but I have to go freak out right now!!

Okay, I'm back. But I don't have another point. So I guess I'll just end it here until next time! Whew!
