So... I just stayed up a good majority of the night watching ALL NINE EPISODES!  And... wow.  This show kicks ass.  I always meant to check out the show, but I was wary because of the whole "oh it's based on a movie, those shows are never good."  So wrong.  So, so wrong.  Would it be sacrilegious to say that I enjoy the show more than the movies?  I mean, I love Ahnald and all, but... Garret Dillahunt kind of rocks my world.  I blame [info]piecesofalice  completely for that.  I'm pretty sure she's brainwashed me.  But, yeah, he's so completely awesome as Cromartie, totally steals the show.  He's just so beautifully innocent and totally kickass at the same time, which brings out the giggles in me, particularly the bit in the boys lockeroom and his scene with Dennis Duffy.  NO ONE TOLD ME THAT DENNIS DUFFY WAS IN THIS!  Or maybe you did, and I didn't realize it, because you used his real name like a normal person would.  Anyway, the action on this show is wonderful.  I love that the robots know kung fu.  Hee.  And all of the characters are super likable, even the ones who started out as assholes.  And they managed to bring a new spin to an old franchise, and I love it.  I don't remember the first movie too well, so I'm not quite sure what the show has retained from the movies (and I'm not quite sure where the show fits in on the time frame, because in T2 John was 13, right?  And it's like the third movie never happened (although they showed the warehouse from the third movie).  So I guess the show is supposed to be separate from the movies?)

Erm... you all know how I love to ship when I watch a show, right?  Well, for the first couple eps I thought that I'd finally found a show where I didn't ship anybody, but then Cromartie turned into Garret Dillahunt, and Ellison shows up at Laszlo's apartment, and... well... it was simply electric.  ELECTRIC!  And not just because Cromartie contains electricity.  But the fact that Cromartie is kind of dazzled by Ellison and his business card, and the he chooses to pose as an FBI agent and copies Ellison's behavior, and then that scene in the finale.  OOOOOOOOH that scene.  Now, I know that this is a totally crack pairing, because not only is it slash, but Cromartie is a cyborg, BUT OMG THE SUBTEXT!  YOU GUYS!  Cromartie went against his programming because he just could not bring himself to kill Ellison when he looked into his eyes.  GAAAAAAAAH!  Actually, I think I was close to shipping Laszlo/Ellison because of the utter intensity of that scene, so it's only natural that I ended up epically shipping Cromartie/Ellison.

Do you see?  Do you see the intensity of the lusty looks?  And that's just Laszlo/Ellison.  Wait till you see the robot.

Oooooooh yeah, those are some "Let's get it on" looks.  But seriously, this is the first human that Cromartie comes in direct contact with that he is completely friendly with (instead of killing him).  And I love that Cromartie has no clue what's going on, is trying to learn from the small talk, and gets defensive when Ellison says, "warning."

And they're all adorable as they talk about identity theft.  And Cromartie mimicks Ellison's smile.  And the Ellison gives him his business card.

And Cromartie is so very dazzled by that card.  He even smiles a little bit.  And he gives everyone a card when he poses as an FBI agent.  SO CUTE!  He's like a little kid... that kills a bunch of people.

But then, then there's the Johnny Cash scene in the finale.  Body after body is falling into the pool, you hear screaming and gunshots, and then the music changes to an instrumental piece and the only person left standing is Ellison.

And Ellison fumbles with his gun and looks up and there he is.  But as Cromartie takes this moment to pause, he looks into Ellison's eyes, sees the fear, the acceptance, the humanity, and Ellison closes his eyes and bows his head as if he's in prayer, and...

Cromartie is fascinated, and he shows some compassion by not killing Ellison.  This is pretty dang huge.  Much bigger than Cameron doing her ballet thing.

And so Ellison is left as the only survivor in the bloodbath that he initiated, and my heart hurts for him.  He had no idea what kind of destruction he was leading them all into, and now he has to live with the guilt. :'(  But I'm pretty sure that he is now forever linked to Cromartie.  There's something about him that speaks to the freewill inside of Cromartie.

So... yeah.  I ship them.  Big time.  I would be so terribly giddy if Cromartie somehow ends up protecting Ellison.  And, my het ship?  Derek/Cameron all the way.  Yeah, wrong on so many levels, but ooooooooh how I love them.  The tension is insane, which is weird, because Cameron's a robot, but their dynamic is so fun to watch.  And I adored the scene where he was watching her dancing, realizing at that moment that she was more human than he had thought, which makes her even more of a threat.  I'm guessing that Derek/Sarah and John/Cameron are the big canon ships for the show, but they're so damn boring.  I obviously like pairings who want to kill each other.
