(The scene is the park. Tavvy and Danni are hanging out next to the lake, throwing birdseed at the ducks.)

Danni: So did you hear about the Lords building getting destroyed?

Tavvy (nodding): Yeah.

Danni: That Reza guy’s real dangerous, isn’t he?

Tavvy (tossing some seeds at a nearby duck): Uh huh.

Danni: And he’s in town…

Tavvy: Don’t worry, Danni. Apogee’ll get rid of him real soon.

Danni: I’m worried that you’ll get hurt next time he does anything.

Tavvy: Hm? Why’s that?

Danni: … no reason…

Tavvy (smiling): Well, you don’t have anything to worry about. I mean, I spend most of my time indoors being a hermit anyway, right?

Danni (pretending to believe him): Yeah. Right. n_n;

Tavvy: You—I mean, we—We should probably avoid government buildings though. He’d probably be likely to attack those.

Danni: You think so?

Tavvy: Yeah.

Danni: Hn. (She decides to try and think about something else) Those ducks really like you, don’t they?

Tavvy: Because I’ve got all this food for them. n_n

(Just as he says that, a duck jumps up onto his lap, trying to get at his bag of birdseed. He yells, swats at the bird and eventually gets it to go away)

Tavvy: -_-;;

Danni (laughing): See! They really like you!

Tavvy: It’s just impatient. (He throws some seed far away) Go! Go get the seeds!

(The duck just stares at him)

Tavvy: … lazy ass.

Danni (laughing more): It doesn’t want to leave you~!

Tavvy: =< Jeeez.

Danni: There’s nothing wrong with animals liking you. =) It means they can tell you’re a good guy.

Tavvy: You think?

Danni: I know it. n_n

(Danni leans in and kisses Tavvy. Tavvy moves in for a second kiss, but his watch goes off. He groans.)

Tavvy (looking at the watch): Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me.

Danni: It’s okay.

Tavvy: Goddammit…

Danni: I don’t mind if you have to leave, really.

Tavvy: No, no. Hold on. (He pulls his phone out.) I’ll be right back.

(Tavvy walks into a nearby restroom and dials Cath’s number. It rings a few times before Cath picks up)

Cath (phone): Yo.

Tavvy: Cath, I need a huge favor.

Cath: Yeah?

Tavvy: Ira’s group is attacking First Street. Can you go over there and scare them away for me?

Cath: I thought we agreed I wasn’t going to do this whole superhero thing.

Tavvy: I know, I know! But I’m with Danni and I—

Cath: You are, are you? Things going well?

Tavvy: They might, if I don’t have to run out on her yet again!

Cath: Hum. Well, in the interest of getting you laid, I suppose I could go do your job for a bit.

Tavvy (rolling his eyes): Thank you.

Cath: But promise not to fuck anything up. I don’t wanna be wasting my time here.

Tavvy: Okay, okay.

Cath: See you.

Tavvy: Bye, thanks.

(Tavvy hangs up and runs back over to Danni)

Tavvy: Okay, I’m back!

Danni: You don’t have to leave?

Tavvy: Nope. Everything’s cool. n_n

Danni: That’s good. =) So I saw some people walking around with ice cream. Wanna go find where they got it from?

Tavvy: Like an adventure?

Danni: Yes! The mighty ice cream adventure!

Tavvy: Let’s go!

(The two of them search the park until they come across a street vendor selling popsicles. They get some, and they’ve just finished eating when Tavvy’s watch goes off again. He sighs, annoyed.)

Danni: What is it?

Tavvy: I’m sure it’s nothing. (He looks at his watch.)

(The readout says, in bold letters, “REZA – FIRST STREET”)

Tavvy: … oh, shit.

Danni: Have to go?

Tavvy: I’m so sorry.

Danni: It’s okay. We got ice cream, at least.

Tavvy: Yeah. =)

(Danni kisses Tavvy)

Danni: Go get ‘em.

Tavvy (thinking she’s talking about, like, him grading papers or something): Okay!

(Tavvy hugs Danni, then runs off. His amorous thoughts are quickly crushed by worry, knowing that he’d just sent Cath off to the same place where Reza was now attacking. And what of Ira’s group? Would they be okay, and could they possibly be an asset in this coming battle? He didn’t know. All he knew was that, no matter how much he dreaded it, he was a superhero and it was his job to rush to where danger was waiting.)
