I went downtown today for another interview. The last one went really well: it sounded like a great job, one I'd be good at and enjoy. Unfortunately, it also turned out to be an unpaid internship. Thus, interview. Chicago-based temp agency. I'm calling back in a few days to see if they have anything for me. I figure if the agency I'm working for (which caters to the suburbs) can't find me work, I need to apply concurrently with other institutions.

Once I managed to locate the building, the interview went fine. The lady interviewing me was only a few years older than me, a West Coast transplant, and utterly adorable. I would have told her so, but I was afraid she'd be offended. I try not to make a habit of accidentally affronting cute brunettes.

Buoyed by my success, I wandered through Macy's on State Street and determined that, once again, nothing in my price range fit me. I've ceased to try on anything I can't afford. It only ends in sadness. Opting for booktherapy, I headed for Lakeview, which has an independent bookstore I frequent and a cafe with the best chocolate mousse cake I've had in years. Books and chocolate: they're exciting things. So exciting, it turns out, that I completely missed the signs indicating that the bench upon which I was perched was the only Brown Line bench with wet paint. Thankfully, I was wearing a black skirt, so the creme paint made a definite impression.

In other news, my Accidental Lingerie is a featured photo on Ravelry! I was excited; photography is not my forte. I'm de-stashing, too, because especially after my "I'm pitying myself for sitting in wet paint and therefore buying books that are not on sale" episode this afternoon, yarn shopping is not an option at the moment. I have so much frikkin yarn. It's not like I need more.

On that note, my cat has informed me that I abandoned her all day, leaving her all alone with a full food bowl and only four humans for company, which are not nearly enough to pay attention to her while she ignores them. She's not too spoiled. But she will attack my yarn and/or bookshelf if snubbed, so I'm off to run interference.
