1. The Wall

I already discussed why I love this movie. Chilling, not afraid of anything. And it revived my faith and love for a band I forgot about.
The story was so disturbing, but fascinating...watching his mind unravel.
And the animation was so beautiful.
2. Steamboy

It was as good as Paprika to me.
They are equal to me.
Huge scale.
The ideals displayed by the scientists...their delusional, self-absorbed thoughts...it was revolting, glorious, and terrifying all at once.
Those machines...
Those machines were awful. But there was a beauty in their evil.
And the animation was so pretty.
I loved how well they got the Western profiles down, the nationalities. It was such a refreshing change.
But truly, it was a terrifying experience...and I'd gladly see it again.
The irony of the statues of beautiful angels, the ice raining down upon them and that horrid black machine, like a god of death and destruction, rising up between...
It felt like The Wall all over again, in many ways, in how big and powerful and unstoppable everything looked.
3. Connie and Carla (second time)

It's cute. And on top of it, it puts your knowledge of musical numbers to the ultimate test.
Incredibly sweet, insightful on a part of culture we don't hear enough -truth- about(unless you know where to look) and it really shows how...similar it all is. A different breed of dog, but still the same species.
4. The Producers (new musical version)
Too hard to rate, but up there
I felt incredibly guilty, like I was viewing something evil, when watching it.
But it was good. It felt good.
I loved the songs, the whole idea was so silly...but seeing it excecuted was really scary. Trying to go wrong?
But I loved the characters, how manic they all were (except for like two but they were boring).
5. The Birdcage (English version)

In between the huge serious movies, I really needed it!
Loved it.
It was so interesting to consider, what a politic so against something, already shoved in a corner, would do, how he'd respond.

It was more than a movie...it was an incredible display of imagination and the future, innovation and breaking of old ideas that don't work.

7. Beetlejuice
Still processing...Can't rate, too odd.
Incredibly choppy, and feels much along the lines of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure to me, only makes less sense.
But an awesome site, it reminded me so much of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure/Playhouse (makes sense, both films are Burton's)

9. Batman: The Dark Knight

DAMN IT WAS GOOD.
I don't care what the haters have to say...
The display of the human mind...what people sink to...and rise up to. How The Joker brought so much into focus, things you think about but hate to admit, about human nature. And what Bruce faced, having to get past himself and his own fears...people look so into themselves and having to look out when people are dying in their places. What would you do?
I would have done less than he did. I'm too weak.
Seeing all of it was so incredible.
10. The Last Unicorn (rewatch from when I was 5 or 6)
...7/10? I don't wanna give it less, but the voice actors got weird at the end. but the animation was so pretty! And such a good story.
I used to think it was so scary.
I loved it anyway. The animation was pretty, I enjoyed the blending of styles...and the different creatures looked so neat.
Towards the end, the situation made everyone a little less panicky I think...it was frusterating. The voice actors got, like, tired or bored.
But they were great in the beginning.
I feel so badly for the unicorn. How could you go back to what you had before, and not feel regret? But what is there to do? There's really nothing.
I don't think you can call that a happy ending, exactly. But the individual's feelings were outweighed by the others' joys. It was such a pretty story.
I watched so many movies this summer!
And I'm still gonna watch the period adaptation from 1999 of Great Expectations. I LOVED THAT BOOK!
it was so GOOD.
11. The Girl who Leapt through Time

INCREDIBLE.
Again, I'd place it with Paprika and Steamboy.
...
It was such an amazing movie. Such a beautiful story. And a really great view into the everyday life of a girl in that age group. No exaggeration really, not cliche. I was pleased.
And the story is so fascinating...again, psychology, my favorite subject. Appearing again and again in movies I love.
I can't really describe it but...
It was such a beautiful, fascinating, moving film.
I plan to get my hands on an english copy of the book someday!

FAVORITE FOREVER!
It's not a good scary horror film, more like the ultimate b-movie.
Only the villains really did think of just about everything! NO STUPID RESCUE THINGIES.
"Oh they forgot this!" Nope.
I loved that.
And I laughed so hard at the whole thing.
It was like a roller coaster.
The villains were so overplayed. It was hilarious.
The undertones, although definitely no laughing matter, were humerous mainly because of how -silly- the man was. How -rediculous- the woman was.
It's certainly a good time, but if you're looking for something serious, PLEASE LOOK AWAY!
In any case it's like me and Rob Zombie.
I listen 'cause it's fun.
I watch 'cause it's fun.
Like a crazy party.
If you like this kinda thing I'd totally reccomend it.
Even if you hate it, the set's pretty fun, it's like a haunted house, like those ones you visit around Halloween that're all pre-done and smell like plastic. <3

New printer-scanner.
My printer is broken, has been for several months, and it's delapedated anyhow...and there's a scanner downstairs, but it's downstairs. I have to use my parents' computer to scan things in and it's a pain to my mom 'cause I'm taking up her space.
So this was much-needed and finally done.

OBAMA.
Just watched his speech.
fuck.
That man is the remedy for this nation.
Hearing him talk is like...descriptions of hearing President Roosevelt, or President Lincoln, talk. It's inspiring, uplifting, fills you with such feelings of strength, unity, hope...pride.

I have rarely, if ever, felt national pride. I feel that Bush perverted the flag for me, corrupted it.
I want to.
I am aware of how great our nation is compared to others.
I love many of the people in it, many of the basic principals, and revel in how -possible- everything is. Even if the gov't says no, someone will say sure, why not? and let you try something pretty awesome. This place is so possible.
But I feel it more in people.
Never behind the flag. I know what the government has done and I still cannot see how, but accept it dumbly, used to how it is by now.
Behind Obama though....
I feel pride.
I never feel it so strongly, unless discussing our troops.
I don't care why they're out there, they are coming back ill, hurt. And for what?
They are soldiers. They risk their lives, or lose them. For us or for the president, what does it matter?
I still support them. Just...not why they are out. I want them to come home, but I'm proud of their efforts. A teacher in my school had a talk about his experiences there. It sounded so difficult...trying to give aid, but each effort blown away.
Them, and Obama, are the two groups or figures behind which I could stand.
I feel pride in things and people, but a country is too much of an idea. And I've grown up used to hating what we're becoming, what other countries view us as.
No wonder.
Gods...I hope he gets in.
