Since I have time to keep up with writing posts, right now... - The Slog shares a Digital Journalist photoessay on Senator Obama. Looking at the DJ site, I found a similar photoessay on Senator McCain. Comparing and contrasting the two reveals, to me, Senator Obama's greater humanity, and reinforces my impression that he has nothing to hide.
- I don't remember who shared this essay on how to ask a good Technical Support question. I saw the link on another site. The essay has some great suggestions about demonstrating that you have at least tried to do your own research before asking for help.
lotusice shared a blog entry on crunches are actually bad for you. I never did like them, and I totally buy that focused exercise of the trunk is of little value.
- Make shares a quick video from the Austin MakerFaire on a vertical windmill design that includes hinges on the panels, so they don't interfere with the wind on the back swing. The banging I hear in the video implies that the claims of being able to work in 90mph winds is probably excessive.
- Science Blog shares another report on the relationship between human physiology and the bacteria in our intestines.
- Gizmodo shares the best. Water fountain. EVAR!
- The Democratic candidate for US Senator from Nebraska Scott Kleeb goes off on the narrow mindedness on both sides of many issues. Let's get past "It's your fault!" and start actually solving the problems, hunh?
- The Electronic Frontier Foundation has an initial report on the use of yellow micro-dots on printed pages for the purpose of identifying the printer that created the page. Knowing the code will reveal the type of printer, the printer's serial number, and the date and time the page was printed, if known. No law mandates this coding; printer manufacturers have embedded this voluntarily, at the request of the Federal Government.
