My Lover's Gone

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The clouds hung low in the sky November 28, 2001 and a fog surrounded those in mourning. “May God carry him in his heart and have mercy on his poor soul. . .” Justin didn’t hear the words of the priest; they were just a low hum in the background of his memories.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Justin looked up at the blue sky with cotton clouds and smiled, it couldn’t have been a better day. He looked to his right and saw family who loved him and supported him to no limits and to his left, well there stood his entire life embodied by a single person, a single man who had captured his heart and soul. Their ceremony was small and beautiful. Partners for life. The words still rung in his head as their family cheered.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“My lover’s gone,
his boots no longer by my door,
he left at dawn,
and as I slept I felt him go
returns no more. . .”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The waves crashed on the shore as Justin leaned back into his lover’s arms watching the sun set on the horizon. Another day in paradise practically heaven on earth it didn’t get any better than this. They shared a kiss so passionate the world stood still and watched. Happiness was an understatement this, this was everlasting bliss.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“I will not watch the ocean,
my lover’s gone,
no earthly ships will ever bring him home again,
bring him home again. . .”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
One week in paradise and three spent in heavenly bliss and with a bang it had slipped out of grasp. A shrill ring had pierced the peace and with some exchanged words he was up and dressed. “I have to go to the studio, there’s some problems with a song. I’ll be back as soon as I can. Love you.” One last shared kiss and he was out the door.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“My lover’s gone,
I know that kiss will be my last,
no more his song,
the tune upon his lips has passed,
I sing alone,
while I watch the ocean. . .”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Justin shot up in bed and screamed. His breathing heavy and labored, where was he? That dream, the awful dream. He remembered bits of a conversation carried between the two of them while he was half asleep. The studio, he was at the studio. His breathing calmed and his heart returned to its place as he climbed out of bed. Half an hour later the doorbell rang. He smiled to himself imagining his lover at the door without his keys again. He opened it and his heart jumped to his throat as he collapsed in the entryway. His eyes watered as the two police officers grabbed him to steady him. “Mr. Timberlake?” He nodded stiffly; words were too far to reach. One police officer helped him sit while the other one fumbled with his hat and stared at the floor, “Mr. Timberlake, there has been an accident and Joshua Scott . . .” He was cut by a scream of agony and pain, “NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO.” “Sir, Mr. Chasez was involved in the accident. We’re very sorry.” With that his whole world crumbled and he was a shadow of his former self.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“Amen,” the mourners chorused. Condolences were given and people watched in sadness as Justin slipped deeper into his memories. His life was lost, his love was lost, paradise was lost and all that was left were memories that were quickly fading into the distance. Everyone watched as the silent tears hit the carpet and the once golden boy crumbled.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“My lover’s gone,
no earthly ships will ever bring him home again,
bring him home again.”
