Since I JUST watched this one tonight, and I am Soooo excited that I have found a way to play free (but GOOD) movies on my computer now, This will be a SHORT Review. ;) (gasp! me? make a short post? Noooo!)
But yes. short:
I really liked this movie- it built up slowly, and the first half hour or so is a little slow, but interesting all the same. You get the idea that it will be a ghost story, and the basic 'rules' they are playing by- the themes and storyling flows pretty good.
The last 30 minutes are INTENSE. I caught myself gaping and holding my breath a few times, as the plot turned and twisted- nothing shocking, and not a lot of BS with red herrings, the way some movies do- this one laid out an obvious kind of course... then suddenly the 'ship' veered, so to speak, and you see the twist. Whoot! It hits you full-broadside, it makes sense, and it WORKS.
By the end, you're grinning in that 'wow... that's kind of cool!' way, at a nice, neatly tied up ending. It felt natural and comfortable. Some might argue predictable, but I think that's good too, in this case. The end was a nice finite end, and those are lacking in this sequel-ridden era.
In Short? This is a Must-See for ghost-story fans, and good for folks who like a thrill. Not much gore, a few middle-sized scares, and some good-old psychological horror (involving the relative tormenting of some of the children in the hospital that it is set in). I would give it a good 4 out of five- very solid, but not the top of the line. :)
/>More movies should be made this way, with more scare and less yuck-factor! :)
