[ Mello was in his room when his heart stopped.

He'd been just standing there, looking around, trying to find something to occupy his time with when he couldn't be around Near - Near, whom he missed terribly, but was unable to be with to due to his strange... craving.

And then, it happened.

He felt a flash of pain, felt himself hit the ground, and then...

...nothing.

Mello was dead.

A vampire had been born.

He opened his eyes, feeling new super-senses set in - he could see every detail in the carpet, every speck of dust, every thread and fiber of the material; he was acutely aware of every part of himself, where it was, what it was touching; and then, as he took his first breath in this new life, he could smell blood.

That was when the hunger set in.

He was hungry, starving, dying for it. He needed it, and fast.

Standing up easily with his newfound strength, he headed towards the exit of his room. There were no thoughts in his mind; just the raw instinct to hunt. Blood.


And that's what brings him to Near's room. ]
