I never know why I feel the way I do about certain songs. Some just HIT me when I least expect them to. Some remind me where I've been and how I got here. And some, are just plain love. For various reasons. I feel I should explain the Clapton and the Beatles. These... I blame on my father. In the nicest way possible. My parents were the WORST inspirations in my life. But they gave me ONE thing I'll treasure to this day. Freedom of CHOICE in music. My father had one stipulation, however, that I never realized until recently. He bought me my music, but he would ALWAYS listen to music himself. And we're talking oldies... Like, generations ago oldies. Ricky Nelson type stuff. 40's and 50's music. I wasn't awlays a fan, that's for sure, but that shit opened my eyes. Because of that, I never turned down what my father was listening to. Which opened my eyes to the world of Clapton and Cream, the Beatles and Billy Joel. I always swore I grew up in the wrong generation. What I would have given to meet Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd. My father's insistence, but not forced, was inspiration to me. Sad I didn't realize it until I was nearly 30.
My father used to sing Lalya and Wonderful Tonight to me whenever they came on the radio.
I always sang the Beatles when they came on.
Demons, they follow me, cause my insanity... I wouldn't be me if it weren't for those damn demons...
