"Wave, dear, just wave. I know you'd much rather be hexing the lot of them, but that option isn't available to us just now," Arthur murmured.

He rested his hand in the small of Molly's back and tried to guide her away from the throng of reporters.

"But that is my daughter! And my grandson! They should be resting while I take care of them, not putting up with this rubbish. Absolute rubbish!"

"Unfortunately, they are also the wife and child of The Man Who Lived, and this is not something they're going to be able to avoid. So let's just smile and wave and not give them any 'In-Laws Rampage' headlines, what do you say?"

Crookshanks did not like the new thing at all. It was smelly and noisy and clearly wasn't smart like Crookshanks was. And brownmummy kept spending Crookshanks Petting Time with it. Worst of all, every time Crookshanks tried to eat it, brownmummy would make nono noises and tell Crookshanks that he was a Bad Crookshanks, which he just wasn't.

But then the tiny Krup brought Crookshanks his very favorite toy, and she let Crookshanks have first pick of the food (which Crookshanks could have done without, as Crookshanks had his own food that tasted much nicer), and Crookshanks decided that if the puppy knew who was boss, maybe it could stay.

"Like this?" Chubby limbs flailing, Hugo leapt headfirst into the large mud puddle. James fell over laughing as Hermione came running over.

"...What in Merlin's name? Hugo!"

"James was teaching me how to be Crookshanks!"

Hermione shot James a stern glance, so he tried to look responsible.

"Hugo, you're filthy. Play is over, it's bathtime for you both."

"How does Crookshanks take a bath, Mummy?"

"Well, Crookshanks gives himself a bath with his tongue, and - no, Hugo wait-don't-"
