Here are the results (and a really cool interactive map, fun to play with):

Conservatives: 37.63% of the vote, 143 seats.
Liberals: 26.24% of the vote, 76 seats.
Bloc Quebecois: 9.97% of the vote, 50 seats.
New Democratic Party: 18.20% of the vote, 37 seats.
Independant: 0.67% of the vote, 2 seats.
Green Party: 6.80% of the vote, 0 seats.

Let's re-cap. The NDP got almost TWICE the BQ's vote, yet got LESS THAN FOUR-FIFTHS the amount of seats as the BQ. Why? Because the BQ's vote is entirely concentrated in Quebec.

Two handy independant candidates managed to pick up seats despite the fact that the independant vote was LESS THAN ONE PERCENT of the vote. Barely more than HALF of one percent. Yet the Greens, with 6.80% of the vote -- just over THREE PERCENT less than the BQ -- got NO SEATS. They got more than a third of the amount of the vote that the NDP got -- by that tally, they should have 13 seats. Compared to the Bloc's percentage and seats, the Greens should have got THIRTY.

ARGH. DOES NO ONE SEE THAT THE EMPEROR IS NAKED? This is not democracy.

Whines not related to the DESPERATE NEED FOR ELECTORAL REFORM:

-Conservatives have increased their seat count at the expense of the Libs. Thank God they didn't get a majority, but I'm unhappy enough that they've increased their mandate.
-Greens didn't win any seats. I was really hoping for it this election, but I suspected all along it was a futile hope as I'd never heard that they were leading in any given riding.
-Adriane Carr finished fourth in Vancouver Centre. In addition, where last election it was the Libs and the NDP who came first and second, this time, while Hedy Fry still re-claimed her seat by over 10 points, it was the Conservative candidate who came second. This could be due to increased Green voting. Yet Adriane Carr STILL finished fourth.

My only rays of light in this election:

The NDP picked up seats.
A lot of the ridings that the NDP won, they won big.
The Greens increased their profile and their percentage of the popular vote, so they'll get more funding next time around.
Vancouver Centre did not turn blue.
