"Jurors will not be needed Thursday and Friday. Your service is complete. Your checks and certificates will be mailed to you. Thank you for your service."

I didn't even do anything. A grand total of three hours of my time were spent in the City County Building, most of it in a hallway and about half an hour in an actual jury room. I never entered a courtroom. Absolutely nothing worthwhile happened. My time, essentially and on all levels, was wasted.

And yeah, everyone I've talked to who's served it says nothing ever happens, that you just sit somewhere.

So where do the actual juries come from? How is it, with all the people I know, and the number of them who've served, that none of them have ever participated in a trial?

This puzzles me, actually.

Here's the real question, though. With all the accused awaiting trials every day, how is it that jurors are summoned ... and not needed?
